InElder Scrolls: Castles, decorations provide more than just something pretty to look at. They’re actuallyan important part of the game. Decorations have variouspassive effectsthat can boost your kingdom’s productivity, increase resource generation, improve subject stats, and even maintain overall happiness levels.
Depending on the decoration, players can benefit from things likeincreased oil production or decreased food consumption. Some decorations can be obtained easily just with some gold and resources. Others must be bought in the Store with Gems. While some Store decorations are always available, others are available only as special offers or during certain events. Regardless of where you get decorations, some are still better than others.

10Magic Lantern
Decrease Oil Consumption By 1%
The Magic Lantern is a floor decoration inElder Scrolls: Castles. It’s a small accessory, so it doesn’t take up much space. In fact, it only requires a 1x1 tile. The benefit of the Magic Lantern is that itdecreases the oil consumption of all stations by 1%. It might not seem like much, but that 1% will add up.
Decrease oil consumption of all stations by 1%

Required Resources
Oil is one of two valuable resources you need in your castle. Oil keeps lights on and keeps stations running smoothly. Without oil, rooms in your castle will stop operating, halting the production of important stations. So, the Magic Lantern is definitely an item you’ll want in the beginning until you may unlock better decorations.
Unlock stations and use them as soon as possible to produce other valuable resources.

The Magic Lantern requires a few resources. You’ll need just 75 Gold and 10 Iron Ingots to build one. Make sure you’re assigning the right workers to your stations to increase production! Like inHardReset.Info’svideo, you can assign your subjects to stations by pressing and holding on a worker and dragging them to a station or by clicking on the work station and assigning them through there.
9Sword Banner
Improve Moods Of Your Subjects
Another smaller accessory that takes just 1x1 tile. The wall decoration, Sword Banner, displays a white sword on a black background — the perfect accessory for any castle. Besides being a decoration fit for a castle, the Sword Banner also comes with a special passive bonus: adecreased chance of your subjects wanting to commit regicide. Which, let’s be honest, regicide can be a real downer and cause some lasting tension in your dynasty. Plus, itgrants +4 happiness to commoners.
+4 happiness to commoners

One of your main responsibilities in ruling your kingdom is to keep your subjects as happy as possible. The Sword Banner can help do that by keeping the peace. Make sure to place it around your unhappiest population to help decrease any tension they might be feeling.
Decoration effects stack. So, place multiple Sword Banners or other decorations to reap even more of the passive effects.

The Sword Banner is another cheap decoration in terms of resources. The cost of the Sword Banner is 175 Gold and 10 Fabric Flax. The decrease in regicide and increase in commoner happiness makes the Sword Banner well worth the small investment. If you’re low on these resources, though, try claiming some tasks that will reward you with what you need! You can claim tasks as shown inHardReset.Info’svideo, simply by clicking on Castle Report at the bottom and then on Tasks.
8Green Dragon Egg
Earn More Gold On Your Orders
The more gold you earn, the better. Gold can be spent on stations, upgrades, certain rulings, and on more decorations. You should do everything you can to bring in as much gold as possible, including investing in the Green Dragon Egg. The Green Dragon Egggives an additional three gold for each order, which can really add up. And the more Green Dragon Eggs you place, the more gold you’ll get from each order.
+3 Gold for each order

Most orders are easy to fulfill, so you could bring in some serious gold coinage for barely any effort. Don’t let the name fool you, though. Whether dragons actually lay eggs in the Elder Scrolls series is still debatable, but inCastles, the Green Dragon Egg isn’t actually a dragon egg, so it won’t be hatching and producing a flying, fire-breathing lizard. Still, it’s worth investing in just for the gold alone.
Temper Your Expectations For The Elder Scrolls 6
A former Bethesda developer believes fans should temper their expectations for The Elder Scrolls 6, elaborating that it can’t live up to the hype.
The Green Dragon Egg is another floor decoration. It takes up 1x1 tiles. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to unlock this decoration until your dynasty reaches level 140. Until then, you’ll just have to use other decorations tobuild up your dynasty.

7Hanging Garden
Increase The Stamina Of Your Nobles
For people who love gardens and lush greenery, the Hanging Garden decoration is for you. Not only does this 1x1 tile floor decoration brighten up a dull room, but it will alsoincrease Noble stamina by 10. Trust me when I say stamina is important. Without stamina, your Nobles won’t be able to get their jobs done, and the job of your Nobles is what keeps your kingdom running and protected.
Increase Noble stamina by 10

The Hanging Garden unlocks at level 68 and requires 125 Gold and 95 wood to build. Stamina means more weapon damage, which will help in combat. The more stamina your Nobles have, the more damage they can do to enemies. You’ll notice a big difference in thoseusing weapons like the bow or battleaxeand you should be able to quickly wipe out entire waves of enemies. Even those using shields will benefit.
6Garden Nook
Decrease The Food Consumption Of Your Commoners
Like oil, food is another valuable resource inCastlesthat you’ll want to do your best to produce and preserve. One way to preserve your food is by building the Garden Nook. It’s another beautiful decoration that will also brighten up your space and make it more charming, but the real benefit comes fromthe 2% reduced food consumption for commoners.
2% reduced food consumption for commoners

The Garden Nook is another high-level floor decoration, unlocking at level 134. It requires 1x1 tiles, 200 Gold, 25 Building Clay, and 35 Quarried Stone to build. So, while it does require quite a few resources, it’s worth it to keep food consumption down, especially if you have a big commoner population.
5Lantern Array
Reduce Even More Oil Consumption
Yet another 1x1 tile floor decoration, the Lantern Array, is a beautiful array of — you guessed it — lanterns. With five lanterns in one, the Lantern Array can really brighten a room up. The benefit doesn’t just end there, though. The real benefit is the effect of the Lantern Array, which reduces 3% oil consumption across all stations. Again, oil is a precious resource, so when you can you should build a few of these Lantern Arrays.
3% reduction in oil consumption across all stations
The Lantern Array doesn’t unlock until level 72. However, you can use the Magic Lantern until then to help reduce oil consumption. Once your dynasty hits level 72, though, it’s time to replace those Magic Lanterns with Lantern Arrays.
The Eclipse makes keeping up with oil difficult, so make sure to stock up on plenty of oil-saving decorations and resources during this event.
The Lantern Array will cost you 150 Gold, 15 Iron Ingots, and 15 Steel Ingots. Not too bad for the 3% decrease in oil consumption.
4Red Grimoire
Improve The Health Of Your Nobles
InCastles, you’ll send your Nobles out to fight against enemies from other kingdoms. Each Noble will have a health bar, and once the health bar is depleted, say bye-bye to your Noble. That is, unless you have the resources to cure them. Still, it’s a good idea to do what you can to improve the health of your Nobles before sending them out to battle. Luckily, that can be done with the Red Grimoire floor decoration.
+2 maximum health to Nobles
The Red Grimoireprovides +2 maximum health to each Noble. It unlocks at level 78 and requires 1x1 tiles, 125 Gold, 125 Building Wood, and 5 Fabric Flax to build. While +2 maximum health won’t make much difference, the more you stack the Red Grimoire, the more maximum health your Nobles will gain. Even if you only have one Red Grimoire, +2 maximum health is better than nothing.
3Purple Grimoire
Improve Your Nobles Magicka
The Purple Grimoire floor decoration looks similar to the Red Grimoire, except it’s purple in color. Instead of improving maximum health, the Purple Grimoireimproves the Magicka of Nobles by 10. This is beneficial to any Noble that uses spells and elemental attacks. The more Nobles that have staves, the greater your benefit from the Purple Grimoire.
If you have a lot of magic wielders, then build a few of the Purple Grimoire and watch the effects stack. Your magic-wielders will be doing far more damage on the battlefield and wiping out waves of enemies. It’ll also help your shield-bearers out because they won’t be under attack as much.
The Purple Grimoire unlocks at level 98. To build this one, you’ll need 1x1 tile, 125 Gold, 85 Building Wood, and 10 Silver Ingots. It’s a small price to pay for increased Magicka.
2Everbloom Tree
Premium Decoration That Increases Gold Blessing
The Everbloom Tree is a Premium decoration item inCastlesthat requiresGems to unlockin the Store. However, this floor decoration is well worth the Gems as itincreases the blessing of gold by 5%. Who doesn’t want more gold?
Increases Blessing of Gold by 5%
Unfortunately, the downside to the Everbloom Tree is that it doesn’t unlock until level 226. That’s quite a level to reach, but the Everbloom Tree is worth the wait. Because it costs Gems, you don’t need to worry about other resources to build it. Once you purchase it, just place it down and watch the gold fall into your lap.
With all the decorations you’ll be adding, make sure to build plenty of rooms so you have the space to place multiple decorations of the same type! According toHardReset.Info’svideo, building new rooms is easy. Just click on the Build icon in the lower left corner and then on the Rooms icon. Click where you want to place your room, and tada, you will have a new room!
1Steel Armor Stand
Improve The Effects Of Healing Potions
Last but certainly not least is the Steel Armor Stand. This decoration is fit for any castle as it’s a coat of steel armor, holding onto a sword. Besides being fit for castle aesthetics, the Steel Armor Standgrants +3% when using Healing Potions. So, if your Nobles are low on health, it’s a great decoration to have so you can use fewer potions to heal them.
+3% to healing potions
The Steel Armor Stand floor decoration unlocks at level 126. You’ll need a 1x1 tile for it, but it doesn’t take any other resources to make. Stack a few of these decorations and your Nobles will be nearly at full health when using a potion.
