While the vast landscapes ofRed Dead Redemption 2and its predecessor made a lasting impression on players, another element that made its mark was the selection of well-crafted characters. Even though the main story of both games is complete, many memorable side characters are still left with untold stories or potential for a future encounter. These characters weren’t just extras; they had their own unique backgrounds and often boasted as much depth as some main characters.
The supporting cast in RDR2 was filled with interesting personalities and engaging storylines. The real question isn’t if these characters could come back in a possibleRed Dead Redemption 3buthow their lives could link with a new storyline, adding richness and emotional depth to the next installment. Even when featured only briefly or recalled through stories, the recognizable characters of the old west offer a wealth of possibilities, and we want to see these side characters return.

10Brother Dorkins Was My Favorite Monk
Monks Don’t Normally Show Off This Much Humanity In Games
Brother Dorkins, the kind monk from Saint-Denis, would be a great fit forRed Dead Redemption 3. Hisgoodness and strong faith stand out in the harsh and morally complex world of the game, giving players a steadfast character to talk to. InRDR3, he could come back as an older, wiser man who has traveled to new places, maybe setting up a small mission in a remote area, much like a certain nun who keeps reappearing.
These 10 Weirdly Difficult Red Dead Redemption 2 Challenges Will Give Even Veterans A Hard Time
Some of Red Dead Redemption 2’s toughest challenges are even harder than the ones that come after them, making for some odd progression.
Dorkins is already a staple of goodness thanks to saving kids inRed Dead Redemption 2, and I want to see that goodness again. If the sequel featuresJack as the main character, he will need help from Brother Dorkins. If anything, Dorkins could be great atgiving the player supplies, healing, or spiritual advice, exemplifying his kind nature. His story could explore the struggle between his faith and the need to survive in a tough environment.

She Was So Cool But Left So Quickly
Black Belle is a mysterious outlaw known for her love of dynamite and clever humor, making her a great character forRed Dead Redemption 3. Instead of just a quick cameo, she could make regular appearances throughout the game as an older gunslinger. Her charactercould fit into the main storywithout taking it over.
Black Belle is the only one who doesn’t die when Arthur or John are looking for the best gunslingers, so she’s available for a repeat appearance.

Black Belle might be found in a new region where she’s starting a gang or trying to fend off lawmen and rival outlaws. Her chaotic sense of justice could be more thoroughly explored. For example, players couldencounter her during a bank robberythat goes wrong, putting her in a position to need assistance with an escape, or she could offer important information about a heist.
8Albert Mason Loved Nature, & We Loved Him
Let The National Geographic Man Return
Albert Mason, the amateur wildlife photographer fromRed Dead Redemption 2, would be a great character to bring back inRed Dead Redemption 3. He loves nature and is a bit clumsy, which can lead to funny and touching moments. Luckily, he’s the easiest one to add to a game, as he had pretty straightforward jobs for Arthur that could be done again. Imagine him returning years later, now a successful wildlife photographer whostill wantsmore pictures.
Mason couldexplore new areas in the American Southwestor even go into Mexico, capturing photos of different animals and plants. His missions might include helping the main character track rare animals for research or document local wildlife threatened by development. His skills could also help the main character in various ways, like providing important photos to solve a mystery or documenting their journey. He’s too nice of a guy to be dumped after one game.

7Charles Chatenay, The Artist
One Of The Funniest Characters in RDR2
Charles Châtenay is a quirky French artist fromRed Dead Redemption 2who would fit perfectly inRDR3. He wouldn’t change the main story much; instead, I just want to see him come back for more antics. His time inRDR2was so funny because ofhis constant shenanigans and tendency to rile up people’s angerwith his paintings.
10 Unsolved Mysteries Red Dead Redemption 2 Never Answered
There are various mysteries players can encounter throughout Red Dead Redemption 2 which never receive complete answers within the game.
I hope tofind Chatenay sketching in a crowdand creating a scene with his artwork. Like inRDR2, his missions could involve helping him find unusual models or materials, settling disputes with upset customers, or even sneaking out his more controversial works. The funny scenes that would come from his cluelessness about the social norms of the time and his carefree approach to life make him an unforgettable character.
6Mickey The False Civil War Veteran
He’s Got So Much Potential
Mickey is a Civil War veteran from Valentine who seems tough at first, but he has a deep sense of sadness and strength that would fit well inRed Dead Redemption 3. While his story starts as one of hardship and loss from the war, it eventually turns out to bea made-up tale that reveals his loneliness and desperation. I don’t like stolen valor in any form, but Mickey really intrigued me, and I always thought this storyline needed more interactions.
Mickey can be found just wandering around inRDR2, so he could easily re-appear loitering near a bear in a future game.
The mystery ofwhy he’s missing an arm could be explored, suggesting a past trauma that goes beyond just lying about his life. Interacting with him might start with a charming encounter but turn emotional as players work to uncover the truth behind his facade. These encounters could raise questions about honesty, empathy, and the importance of human connections, even in the tough environment of the Old West.
5Charlotte Balfour, The Real Frontier Woman
Many of Us Wanted Her For Arthur
Charlotte Balfour, a woman fromRed Dead Redemption 2, would be a great addition toRDR3because of her interesting backstory and how much was left unsaid. Arthur and John both got to meet her, so theRDR3protagonist should too. At first, she appears as a struggling widow who doesn’t have survival skills, but her growth with Arthur Morgan’s guidance shows how strong and adaptable she can be. Her quest isone you’d regret forgetting.
InRDR3, we could meet Charlotte years afterRDR2. By then, she could be a skilled hunter living in a new area, like the American Southwest. She mightrun a small trading post or hunting lodge. Players could interact with her by getting help to track rare animals, sourcing supplies, or hearing stories about her past, like Arthur did. This one is fan service, but I want to see her again, and I know I’m not alone.
4Francis Sinclair The Time Traveler
Jack Would Be Only Slightly Older Than Francis
Francis Sinclair is a mysterious character who stands out because of his connection to time traveling, making him a great fit forRed Dead Redemption 3. Instead of just a short mission about rock carvings,Sinclair could give a lot more evidence that he’s a time traveler. A lot of people believehe’s the key toRDR3,and it’s hard to argue against that.
In my mind’s eye, the playerhelping him build the time machine that sends him back toRDR2would be so cool. We obviously can’t see it, but returning to a lab that’s blown up or met a similar fate after giving him the knowledge of rock carvings would be amazing. Knowing Rockstar and how much they put into the supernatural aspect, Sinclair’s return seems like a sure bet for a memorable encounter.
3Mother Superior Calderón The Nun
“You’re A Good Man, Arthur Morgan”
Mother Superior Calderón, who appears in bothRed Dead RedemptionandRed Dead Redemption 2, would be a great character to include inRDR3because of her role in the story. InRDR2,she is shown as a kind nunwho helps children in the poor areas of Saint-Denis and assists those in need. After she moves to Mexico in the epilogue ofRDR2, there are plenty of ways to bring her back for a possibleRDR3.
Red Dead Redemption 2 May Have Been Hiding Another Love Story In Plain Sight
Arthur had a secondary love interest and the developers left a lot of clues as to who it was, and it makes a lot of sense looking back at it.
Rockstar could always return to MexicoinRed Dead Redemption 3, providing a chance to meet Mother Superior Calderon again. In a future game, Calderón could be leading a small convent or mission in a remote and possibly war-torn area of Mexico, reflecting the ongoing Mexican Revolution. As an older character, she could offer wisdom and guidance to the player characters, giving insight into faith, morality, and challenges during difficult times.
2Bonnie Macfarlane The Rancher
We Want More From Her Story
Bonnie MacFarlane, the determined rancher fromRed Dead Redemption, would be a great fit forRDR3.Her story feels so incomplete, and Rockstar needs to fix that. She seems left alone without any thought of a real resolution to her story. InRDR3, she could be quite a bit older, around middle age, but still running MacFarlane’s Ranch, which is now doing well. The years could have made her a bit softer but also wiser and more experienced.
Bonnie could help the main characterand teach them the basics of the game, much like she did inRDR1. She would be great at sharing her thoughts on the changes happening in the American West and getting players back into the mindset of the current story. Bonnie might take on a more quiet, mentor-like role and offer valuable advice. Her knowledge of the land and its people could be helpful during important moments in the story, much like inRDR1.
1The Strange Man Still Has Unanswered Questions
He Could Be A Demon, Angel, Or The Grim Reaper
The Strange Man is my favorite character in theRed Dead Redemptionuniverse. His unclearrelationship with John Marston and Arthur Morgan needs to be explored further. His return in a thirdRed Dead Redemptionalready seems likely, but we want more answers this time. He has to give better clues as to what or who he is.
I want to see The Strange Man return in a similar fashion to the way he showed up inRed Dead Redemption 1. He can test the player’s morality and see if they really are worthy of redemption. Also, I’d like to know if he’s a demon or an ange, as he has to be something supernatural to have this much knowledge of the characters inRed Dead Redemption.
