SomeStar Warsstories that have never been seen were actually teased by George Lucas' protégé over ten years ago. Since Disney took over the franchise,Star WarsTV showshave become somewhat commonplace. Prior to the acquisition. only the animated Ewok cartoons of the 1980s and the animatedStar Wars: The Clone Warsdifferentiated themselves from the long list ofStar Warsmovies.

However, as alluded to, Disney changed this completely. Now,upcomingStar WarsTV showsare just as expected as movies, with the small screen becoming a vehicle for a lot of stories to be told in a galaxy far, far away. One of the creatives at Lucasfilm who is responsible for ushering in this TV slate, as well as someupcomingStar Warsmovies, is the protege of George Lucas himself. Over 10 years ago, this filmmaker teased even moreStar WarsTV shows than have been seen in the last decade.

Dave Filoni Has Been Planning Some Important Mandalorian Stories For A Long Time

Linking To Two Specific Characters

The filmmaker in question is, of course, Dave Filoni, who has been responsible for spearheading Lucasfilm’s TV efforts sinceThe Mandalorian. Interestingly, though, there are more stories that Filoni is yet to tell, some that he teased 12 years ago. In an interview withIGNfrom 2013,Filoni mentioned a"lengthybackstory"for the character of Bo-Katan Kryze, one that explains her history as a member of the Mandalorian cult known as Death Watch.

The Mandalorian Civil War & Death Watch Cult Explained

The Mandalorian Civil War is a key event in the history of the Mandalorians and their Death Watch splinter group in both Star Wars canon and Legends.

Filoni goes on to mention that this story he had planned would go back to when Bo-Katan and her sister, Satine Kryze, were six years old, exploring how one became a Mandalorian rebel and another the planet’s duchess. Filoni stated that this story would also explore how Obi-Wan Kenobi became involved with the sisters, promising an exciting Mandalorian story that has not yet come to fruition. This is certainly a surprise, asFiloni said in 2013 “I’d like to tell that story at some point in some form of Star Wars media in the future.”

When Are We Getting “Tales Of The Mandalorians” Already?

Star Wars TV Gives Filoni’s Dreams A Place To Flourish

Given that this story that Filoni reportedly mapped out with people at Lucasfilm has yet to actually happen, the question turns to when - or if - it ever will. Perhaps the main way this story could see the light of day is as part of aTales of the Mandalorianshow, modeled afterTales of the Jedi, Tales of the Empire, and theupcomingTales of the Underworld.Centering a show of this ilk around the Mandalorian people sounds incredibly appealing, as it could provide vital context to several major characters of recent TV shows in the franchise, Bo-Katan being one of them.

This way, Filoni could finally bring the story he has had planned for over a decade to life. Doing it in this format would also allow for the characters of Bo-Katan and Satine to be seen inStar Warsanimation once more, the same medium in which they debuted inStar Wars: The Clone Wars.Beyond that, there areStar Warscharacters like Din Djarin, Boba Fett, and countless other mysterious Mandalorians that could be focused on ifTales of the Mandalorianswas green-lit. Either way, the concept sounds like a win-win for fans and Filoni alike.
