BoschandBosch: Legacyare known for featuring brilliantly written characters, but there are several characters that stand out in the franchise. BothBoschand its sequel follow the detective work of Harry Bosch, played by Titus Welliver, as he investigates crimes and mysterious deaths in LA. The franchise is characterized by its serious tone and the way that it spends a significant amount of time on character development and personal choice rather than being strictly a case-by-case police procedural.
Bosch: Legacyis available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, alongside all seven seasons ofBosch.

Boschran for seven seasons before ending in 2021. Its sequel,Bosch: Legacy, which follows Bosch as a private detective rather than as a member of the LAPD, began filming shortly after in 2022. Even though many of the same characters appear in bothBoschand its sequel, many new characters were introduced inBosch: Legacy.TheBosch: Legacycharactersalso continue the franchise’s ability to portray character behavior in a way that differs from other police procedurals. Out of both shows, there are several characters that particularly stick out as being the bestBoschfranchise characters.
15Julia Brasher
Played By Annie Wersching
One of the most interesting and significant relationships that Bosch forms in the series comes in the show’s first season. Julia Brasher is a younger LAPD officer who is still getting her footing in the job when she meets Bosch and learns some valuable lessons from him. However, the rookie and veteran cop dynamic eventually evolves into a romantic relationship. That is only the beginning of things getting complicated.
Instead of the show going the easy route of making Julia an inexperienced cop who can’t keep up with the seasoned Bosch,Julia is shown to play by her own rules and is quite reckless as a cop. It is a fresh and unexpected place to take the character and it makes her relationship with Bosch all the more important as he is confronted with the kind of cop he wants to be versus how everyone sees him.

14Raynard Waits
Played By Jason Gedrick
The first main villain inBoschremains the most chilling in the entireBoschuniverse. Raynard Waits is a sadistic serial killer who sets his intricate plans to capture his victims and kill them in cold blood. However, what makes Waits such an unsettling villain is how he differs from the other criminals Bosch hunts. While all of them are trying their hardest to avoid being found by the authorities,Waits taunts the police as part of a game.
He is an intelligent criminal who wants to prove to the police that he is smarter than them and that he can get away.

Waits becomes fascinated with Bosch and thrilled by the prospect of them matching wits. He is an intelligent criminal who wants to prove to the police that he is smarter than them and that he can get away. However, he is not played like some eerieserial killer like Hannibal Lecter, but rather a man who simply doesn’t see anything wrong with what he is doing.
13Veronica Allen
Played By Jeri Ryan
It is not often that a villain inBoschis able to come out on top against the titular detective, and for that reason, Veronica Allen deserves to be highlighted as one of the show’s best characters. Allen was introduced in the second season ofBoschwhen her husband was discovered to have been murdered. Though she presents herself as a victim, Allen is a manipulating, cunning, and remorseless killer out to make her fortune.
The fact that Allen was finally arrested after murdering a priest shows how vicious she is. However, it was quite a shock to see Allen return in Bosch season 3 only to lie her way to being acquitted of her charges and beating Bosch. Even more surprising, though Allen made a cameo in season 5 ofBosch, she never was brought to justice. InBosch’s LA noir style,Allen was a villain who fits effortlessly into the genre and showcased how the good guys don’t always win.
12Jimmy Robertson
Played By Paul Calderón
Paul Calderon is a talented character actor who has appeared in small roles in the likes ofPulp FictionandOut of Sight, always making an impression, even with brief screen time. Calderon brings his cool and laid-back style to the role of Jimmy Robertson, turning this supporting character into a charismatic and engaging part of the series. Robertson is a veteran cop who operates in the job quite differently from Bosch, yet is nevertheless a great cop.
Robertson is by-the-book and dedicated to justice, with this sometimes putting him at odds with Bosch. In fact, a large part of Robertson’s role in season 7 ofBoschis investigating Bosch for corruption. However, even going after our beloved protagonist, Robertson remains a likable character by understanding when to pursue a case and when to back off, while also forming a mutual respect with Bosch despite their early differences. This eventually led to Robertson returning inBosch: Legacyseason 3.
11Eleanor Wish
Played By Sarah Clarke
Bosch has a lot of complicated relationships in his life, but his ex-wife, Eleanor Wish, certainly provides a lot of drama in his life. Unlike a lot of his loved ones, however, Bosch himself isn’t necessarily the one causing the problem in their dynamic. Eleanor is a former FBI agent, so she shares a lot of similarities with Bosch in terms of his sense of justice and understands his dedication to his job. However, she also has a dangerous and reckless streak to her, giving up law enforcement to become a professional gambler.
Eleanor is not a degenerate person, as she remains a loving and caring mother. However, her gambling activities do get her in trouble at various times in the series. It creates an interesting dynamic as she and Bosch co-parent, but they remain cordial and clearly show affection for each other even after all these years. Unfortunately, Eleanor’s death inBoschwas part of what made her so memorable.
10Maddie Bosch
Played by Madison Lintz
As a main character in bothBoschandBosch: Legacy,Maddie Bosch sticks out as being one of the most memorable charactersin the franchise. She is the daughter of Harry Bosch and her character growth is the most visible throughout the two shows. She begins inBoschas a young girl and byBosch: Legacy, she is a young woman pursuing a career in policing, inspired by her dad’s work.
Maddie’s screen time in the franchise increased significantly inBosch: Legacy,as the series also focused on the early beginnings of her career, rather than just Bosch’s. Her character is particularly important because it is through her relationship with her father that Bosch’s personal side is really visible. And since Bosch is the main character in the series, it is nice to see how his young daughter can bring out sides to him that would not be seen otherwise.
9Jade Quinn
Played by Jessica Camacho
Although she is a new character with a relatively minor role,Jessica Camacho holds a significant role inBosch: Legacyseason 2. She plays the undercover agent Jade Quinn who starts a relationship with Maurice “Mo” Bassi.
Despite having a minor role, Jessica is an amazing character because of the shock value she has brought to the show. Her fake relationship with Mo eventually led to his arrest as part of an FBI operation. She brought out a new side to Mo and brought exciting drama to the franchise, making her a memorable character.
8Rico Perez
Played by Anthony Gonzalez
Rico Perez was first introduced inBosch: Legacyseason 1 as a coworker to Maddie in the early beginnings of her career. Rico, played by Anthony Gonzalez, is one of the best characters inBosch: Legacybecause of his kind and helpful personality. He often acts as a mentor to others and has proven time and time again that he is a trustworthy character. He commonly works with Maddie and fellow police officers, including officer Paulina Calderon.
Rico and Maddie quickly developed a friendly relationship, but as they continued to work together, they soon formed a romantic relationship that was explored in season 2 ofBosch: Legacy. Unfortunately, the relationship was cut short as the two break up towards the end of season 2. Despite their short relationship,Rico remains a significant character in the series due to his kindhearted natureand the chemistry he has with Maddie.
7Grace Billets
Played by Amy Aquino
Grace Billets, played by Amy Aquino, is a lieutenant with the LAPD who was a main character throughout all seven seasons ofBosch. She held a high position of power and often worked with Bosch on cases. She is also the only major character ofBoschthat has yet to appear onBosch: Legacy. She is one of the best characters within theBoschfranchise because she was consistently reliablethroughout her time on the show, and she always had Bosch’s back.
Although it may be surprising that Grace has not appeared on the spin-off yet, it makes sense that she has not, since all the guest appearances onBosch: Legacywere made to seem organic. The two seasons ofBosch: Legacydid not have a story that aligned with Grace’s position. However, with season 3 nearing, it is likely thatBosch’s Grace will returnto the franchise.
6Jerry Edgar
Played by Jamie Hector
Jerry Edgar is one of severalBoschcharacters that have appeared inBosch: Legacy. Although he has only appeared a few times in the sequel, Jerry had a significant role inBoschand appeared in nearly every episode. Jerry, played by Jamie Hector, is a homicide detective with the LAPD and Bosch’s old partner. Jerry sticks out as one ofBosch’s best characters due to his loyalty to Bosch and his sarcastic delivery, which offers a slight form of comedic relief to the show.
Jerry sticks out as one ofBosch’s best characters due to his loyalty to Bosch and his sarcastic delivery, which offers a slight form of comedic relief to the show.
Although Jerry has only appeared three times inBosch: Legacyso far, his appearance in “Chain of Authenticity” inBosch: Legacyseason 2 continues the trend of him being a helpful character to Bosch. The appearance also sets up his return as a more significant character in the spin-off, which will hopefully show more scenes of the ex-partners working together again. Even if he does not return in a major role inBosch: Legacy,Jerry’s appearances inBoschcement him as one of the best charactersin the franchise.
