With James Gunn’sDC Universenow up and running, former members of the Arrowverse have revealed if they would want to join the new franchise. Following its ending in 2023,the DCEU movie timelineis being replaced by the new DCU franchise, as Gunn and Peter Safran are taking the DC brand into the next era. AsSupermanarrives this summer, more DCU movies and TV shows are on their way, meaning there will be an endless number of heroes and villains to cast in the new continuity.

At this year’sMegaCon, aLegends of Tomorrowpanel was hosted byScreenRant’sown Joe Deckelmeier, featuring Brandon Routh, Matt Ryan, Caity Lotz, and Arthur Darvill, where they were briefly asked about Gunn’s new DCU franchise. When they were asked if there were any characters that would love to play in DC Studios' newly launched superhero continuity, each of the Arrowverse alums shared the following responses:

What Matt Ryan, Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz & Arthur Darvill’s DC Comments Mean For The DCU

Since theLegends of Tomorrowcast members gave very different answers, there are many ways to look at their responses to wanting to jointhe DCU timeline. For Routh, the Superman gig is obviously already taken, with David Corenswet headlining the 2025 installment this summer and for the rest of the DCU. The only other way Routh could play Superman again in any capacity is if DC Studios gave him his own Elseworlds property, assuming that they would want multiple Superman franchises at the same time.

Ryan wanting to play Constantine again is, however, less complicated, as there is no one occupying that role in any ofthe DCU movies and TV showsthat have been announced thus far. Given how Ryan has become synonymous with Constantine, it wouldn’t be shocking if DC Studios perhaps would try to consider having him the DCU’s version of the character, even if it means having the actor play a completely new take on him. For Lotz and Darvill, their dream roles would be easier to accomplish since they have never played Catwoman and Alfred before, nor are there any stars playing them right now in the DCU.

Our Take On Matt Ryan, Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz & Arthur Darvill’s DCU Casting Comments

While time will tell if the DCU will ever bring in actors fromthe Arrowverse franchise,it would definitely be fun to see several of those stars getting another shot at playing a superhero, or supervillain, for DC Studios. But for now, it will likely be quite a while before anyone from the Arrowverse gets tapped to play any role in the DCU, as DC Studios is likely trying to keep their franchise as fresh as possible. Hopefully, down the line, Arrowverse fans may get to see some familiar faces in theDCU.

DC Universe

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Arrowverse

The Arrowverse is a shared universe centered on multiple television series airing on The CW and web series based on characters from DC Comics. It began with Arrow in 2012 and expanded to include shows like The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow, creating a vast interconnected narrative that includes numerous crossovers and parallel universes.
