Unfortunately,Buck and Eddie’s romance likely won’t happen in9-1-1season 8, given their circumstances as of episode 13, “Invisible.“Eddie moved back to Texas during the two-part mid-season premiereto reconnect with his son, Christopher. As many will recall, Christopher moved into his grandparents' house at the end of season 7, and the separation has been really hard on Eddie. So, the firefighter made the tough decision to leave the 118 and go to El Paso to fight for his son. Since then, Buck has been missing Eddie, which has raised a few eyebrows among those close to him.

Buck’s Feelings For Eddie Have Become More Apparent In 9-1-1 Season 8

Two Characters Have Called Out Buck’s Feelings

Buck was struggling to cope with Eddie’s moveto Texasin9-1-1season 8, episode 11, “Holy Mother of God.” He couldn’t sleep at Eddie’s old house, and he utterly failed to befriend Ravi after his sister suggested he should find new acquaintances in Eddie’s absence. Then, Buck fell back into bed with his ex, Tommy. To sum it all up, Buck was a mess, and two characters called him out on it — Tommy and Maddie.

The morning after their trystin9-1-1season 8, episode 11,Tommy said he wasn’t scared that Buck would break his heart anymore because his “competition” was finally “out of the way.“He was referring to Eddie, which caught Buck off guard. Tommy claimed he was mostly joking, but there was a layer of truth behind his words. Buck adamantly denied having feelings for Eddie and rationalized his stance by saying that his best friend was straight. However, the damage was done. Buck was hurt and confused by the accusation, and he further defended himself by telling Tommy:

“I don’t have to want to sleep with everyone I have feelings for, and I don’t have to have feelings for everyone I sleep with.”

His comment hurt Tommy in return, resulting in Lou Ferrigno Jr.’s character walking out. Later,Buck talked with Maddie in9-1-1season 8, episode 11, about Tommy’s theory and discussed how outrageous it was that he thought he could have feelings for Eddie. However,Maddie was more skeptical. She flat-out asked him if he was in love with Eddie and said it “wouldn’t be so crazy” if Buck were to have feelings for him. However, Buck stood his ground. Once again, he claimed how ridiculous it would be to want to be in a relationship with his “straight best friend.”

Ultimately, though, Tommy and Maddie’s comments suggest that Buck truly has romantic feelings for Eddie in9-1-1season 8, even if he can’t or won’t recognize them.

Nevertheless, Buck admitted that Eddie’s absence had left a big hole in his life. As a result, he used Tommy as a distraction so that he wouldn’t have to feel so alone, which isn’t exactly the healthiest coping mechanism.Maddie suggested that Buck attempt to be single for a little bit.He needs to learn how to be comfortable being alone, and he can’t do that if he runs back to Tommy. Ultimately, though, Tommy and Maddie’s comments suggest thatBuck truly has romantic feelings for Eddie in9-1-1season 8, even if he can’t or won’t recognize them.

I Just Can’t Accept That Bobby Is Going To Die In 9-1-1, Here Are 5 Other Explanations For His Funeral Scene

ABC’s hit procedural is seemingly ready to kill off its first main character, but I’m inclined to believe Bobby’s 9-1-1 “death” isn’t what it seems.

The Way Eddie Handles His Parents' Meddling With Christopher Explains Why He Hasn’t Noticed Buck’s Feelings

Eddie Can Be Oblivious

While Buck was in Los Angeles, spiraling about his potential feelings for his best friend, Eddie was in Texas trying to get his son back in9-1-1season 8.Eddie’s trials in Texas have given context to why he hasn’t noticed Buck’s feelings, though. Ryan Guzman’s9-1-1characterhas never had a great relationship with his parents, and that certainly won’t change anytime soon, especially after episode 13.

Eddie’s parents had an ulterior motive for wanting Christopher to come with them to Texas atthe end of9-1-1season 7. They wanted a redo, given how they failed Eddie when he was growing up. So, since then,Eddie’s mother and father have been sabotaging him to ensure that Christopher stays with them, and it took Eddie quite a while to figure that out. The good news is that Eddie is finally on the right track to getting his son back. The bad news is that his obliviousness is stunting his possible romance with Buck in9-1-1season 8.
