In a very surprising turn of events, there will be a legendary soccer star joining the roster ofFatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Guest characters based on established fictional characters are a dime-a-dozen these days, with theT-1000 fromTerminator 2joiningMortal Kombat 1earlier this month. But it is exceptionally rare for a fighting game to have a real-life person be playable in a fighting game, and that is exactly what’s happening inFatal Fury: City of the Wolveswhen it releases on April 24.
Massive soccer starCristiano Ronaldo will be joining the base roster ofFatal Fury: City of the Wolves, as revealed on theSNKwebsite. Ronaldo’s fighting style will be a mix of soccer (or more properly, “football”) and martial arts. His reveal trailer sees him taking on series staple Terry Bogard, showing off all kinds of soccer ball tricks, his super moves, and his intro dialogue. It’s worth noting thatthe in-game character is not voiced by Ronaldobut instead by actor Juan Felipe Sierra.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Fatal Fury Character Breakdown
Lots Of Soccer Balls & Kicks
The trailer shows that Ronaldo’s soccer ball will be a tricky projectile to deal with, with him being able to dribble it and also use it as a combo extender with multiple kicks. Based on the game’s official command list posted on theSNK website,Ronaldo will have a few command normals and what appears to be a target combo. He can also do a quick back step that will then lead to a fast overhead or low. His special moves are called Echo Shot, Field Dominator, Rising C Cross, and Deep-Rooted Step, most of which involve the soccer ball.
Ronaldo’s base design is very reminiscent of the real-life legend, sporting soccer gear andhis signature red Portugal National Football Team jersey, number 7.

This Might Be The Strangest Fighting Game Crossover Ever
Some Fans Love The Absurdity Of Ronaldo’s Inclusion
This very well may be one of the strangest crossovers in fighting game history, but that is a good thing, because fans are eating it up. Over onRonaldo’s poston his official X account, he shared another video of the character reveal, to the delight of a ton of fans. UserVishal Gajjarsaid: “No way! The GOAT entering the FATAL FURY universe?! This game’s about to break records just like you.“Whilesome may find the lack of Ronaldo’s actual voice to be disappointing, the physical appearance is uncanny.
The announcement still brings a lot of questions: Will Ronaldo be an official canon part of theFatal Furyuniverse or just a non-canon guest? Will he have an ending and interact with other characters? We won’t have long to wait, fortunately, becauseFatal Fury: City of the Wolveslaunches just next month.
