Now, Legendary Comics is bringing fansMonsterverse Declassified, a new anthology coming to comic shops and bookstores this spring. There are not many details on the creative team or direction yet, butDeclassifiedwill feature Abaddon, Tiamat, Behemoth, and even more Titans.
Hot on the heels of the announcement thatKong will return to Skull Islandin a graphic novel by Simon Furman and Christopher Jones, theDeclassifiedgraphic novel will be in stores on July 11, 2025. And yes, we can confirm this anthology will offer a day in the life ofDoug, “the tiniest Titan of them all,“bound to make for a pretty delightful story for fans of the franchise. TheMonsterverse, which started withKong: Skull Island, is now one of Warner Bros.' most successful ongoing franchises. WhileHarry Potterhasn’t had a movie in years, and theLEGOand DC films have been hit-or-miss at the box office, Godzilla, Kong, and friends have turned into reliable drivers of audience enthusiasm. That success has also come at a time when Warner has struggled with multiple ownership changes, a brief break-up with Legendary, the end of the DC Extended Universe, and the departure of filmmakers like Christopher Nolan (who took issue with day-and-date releases during the early stages of the pandemic).

Godzilla is ready to expand with a brand-new era, and the editor behind IDW’s ambitious universe with Toho is speaking out about the project.
The characters have been featured in comics more or less from the beginning; in 2024, Legendary Comics took to Kickstarter to crowdfund an omnibus collecting five Godzilla and/or King Kong graphic novels. Last year, IDW released a host ofGodzillacomics, alongside Legendary’s official tie-ins to the movie universe. The franchise also spun off a TV series, Apple TV+‘sMonarch. All told, the movies have earned more than $2.5 billion at the box office since 2014’sGodzillawas released.

Of course, given the focus on Godzilla and Kong, it’s true that most of those Titans don’t get much in the way of story to tell. The comics (andMonarch) look to set that right, giving fan-favorites like Mothra and Doug some screen/panel time. Sometop talent from both comics and film have played a role in Monsterverse comics, including the first-everGodzillagraphic novel written by Max Borenstein, who first introduced a connection between Godzilla and Kong in his script forKong: Skull Island.
