A-Train’s potential return inThe Boysseason 5 hasreceived a definitive response from star Jessie T. Usher. Based on the comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson,The Boyswas developed bySupernaturalcreator Eric Kripke and debuted on Amazon Prime Video in July 2019. The show follows the titular group of vigilantes who hunt corrupt superheroes, and Vought International, the shady company that oversees them. A-Train was a core part ofThe Boysseason 4 cast, butfled New York with his family after the final events, with his future uncertain.

In a deleted post on his Instagram Stories,Usherhasconfirmed that he will return inThe Boysseason 5,stating in a post “Here comes season 5,” and discussing the family dynamic onThe Boys. It is unclear how many episodes he will appear in, or how prominent a role A-Train will have in the final episodes. However, the fact he is certain to return should see the character close out his arc. Check out Usher’s Instagram post below:

What This Means For A-Train’s Season 5 Story

It’s A Dangerous Time For A-Train

Usher confirming a return forThe Boysseason 5means A-Train should finish his character arc on the show, but it’s unclear the direction this will take. The character has had a slow-burn redemption arcsince accidentally killing Hughie’s girlfriend in the pilot, and his disgust at Vought and Homelander has seen"the fastest man in the world" in danger for the past few seasons. At the end of season 4, A-Train’s position was unclear, as he had enemies in both the Boys and Vought, and Homelander had discovered he was the leaker.

I believe Annie will recruit A-Train for the climactic battle against Homelander, with a newly Compound-V powered Ashley Barrett joining

A-Train splattered with blood all around him in The Boys

Following the death of Victoria Neuman, and new President Calhoun declaring martial law, and pledging loyalty to Homelander, it’s not going to be a good time to be a good guy.A-Train, having aligned himself with The Boys as a double agent, puts him and his family’s lives in danger, so he was right to flee the city. It could be that A-Train will appear sporadically, with scenes featuring him in hiding, or he could be coaxed back to the city to face off against Homelander.

Our Take On A-Train’s Story ForThe BoysSeason 5

The Hero Could Unite With The Boys

The Boyswill end with season 5, and it should prove to be a violent and gory affair, with the titular gang splintered following Butcher going rogue, Hughie, MM, Frenchie & Kimiko captured, and Annie a fugitive on the run. However, I believe Annie will recruit A-Train for the climactic battle against Homelander, with a newly Compound V-powered Ashley Barrett joining, and Queen Maeve possibly returning, too. Whether A-Train will survive the season is unclear at this point, but his role in the conclusion ofThe Boysis bound to be a big one.

The Boys

Cast

The Boys is a gritty and subversive take on the superhero genre, focusing on a group of vigilantes who confront powerful superheroes abusing their abilities, exploring themes of corruption and moral ambiguity in a world where heroes are not always what they seem.
