As far as fan service-focused series go,High School DxDis one of the top recent titles.
Love it or hate it, the blend of unabashed fanservice with a workable story, eye-catching color/animation, and solid music has beenHigh School DxD’s niche. Martin’s assessment ofHigh School DxDis as true now as when the review was first published in 2013, although some series aretrying to change up the controversial harem formula. As forHigh School DxD, despite several anime sequels raising awareness of the series, the series hasn’t actually received any new content in years.

The originalHigh School DxDlight novel series received a manga adaptation, launching in 2011 and running until 2018 inMonthly Dragon Age.High School DxD Hero’s X accountshared the news that the long-awaited sequelJunior High School DxD(its first spin-off novel) would be receiving a manga. The manga is also set to run inMonthly Dragon Age, although a serialization date hasn’t been determined.
Junior High School DxD’s first volume came out in May 2024, currently one of two volumes in total. In consideration ofHigh School DxD’s massive appeal, it’s perhaps unsurprising that it so quickly earned a manga adaptation. With a brand-new set of characters and intentions to bring legacy characters in, the series is a decisive expansion ofHigh School DxD’s narrative, and fans of the franchise can look forward to the manga and—inevitably—the anime, too.
