Alan Ritchson’s diet forReacherseason 3 included drinking a cup of “Reacher sludge” according to a co-star, who tried it while they were filming.Reacherseason 3has seen Ritchson continue to portray the titular character, which includes maintaining his muscular physique. This means both exercising in a specific way and maintaining a diet that allows him to both build and maintain his stature. It’s a staple of the character, made more impressive by the actor’s continued commitment to being as hulking as he is.

Speaking withCinemaBlend, Ritchson’s co-star, Johnny Berchtold, who plays Richard Beck inReacherseason 3, offered insight into the lead’s unique diet. This includes a “Reacher sludge” that he would drink a full cup of.Berchtold ended up trying the beverage himself, but was only able to stomach a few sips. Even so, he was amused by just how much Ritchson was eating on set to maintain his build, impressed by his dedication. Check out what Berchtold had to say below:

Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, looking shocked, in season 3

No, you know what I’ll say, though… I mean, yes, he is like, disappearing and then he goes to a gym that’s nearby, but he’s gotta maintain that build. So he’s just constantly being fed, like, beef stroganoff. And at one point they delivered him the Reacher smoothie. And I was like, ‘What the hell is in that?’ And he’s like, ‘What, you want some?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah. Give me a cup.’ So they gave me a red solo cup of the Reacher sludge.

I got two sips in, and I looked over and he’s just downing the entire thing in one swig. I could barely get through it. I was like, ‘I don’t…I don’t think I have what it takes to become Reacher.’ But it’s pretty impressive. It was hilarious. We’d be in between takes, and they just feed him food. It’s so funny to watch.

What Berchtold’s Statement Says About Ritchson’s Reacher Diet

Out of everyone on thecast ofReacher, Ritchson has some of the most rigorous preparation necessary for his role. While he weighed 235 pounds in season 1,the actor’s weight was confirmed to be over 240 pounds during season 2.Although he doesn’t have an exact weigh-in number for season 3, it appears he’s maintained his muscular stature from the previous season, meaning he’s still in the range of 240 pounds. This requires a deliberate routine to maintain, which includes lots of protein to keep his muscles built.

What Time Reacher Season 3’s Finale Releases On Prime Video

The Reacher season 3 finale will finally see Jack Reacher get his revenge against Xavier Quinn and have an intense fight with the menacing Paulie.

Berchtold’s statement makes for a funny acknowledgment of just how much and what types of food Ritchson needs to eat to maintain his physical appearance. The same can also be applied to Olivier Richters, who plays Paulie, standing at 7 feet 2 inches and weighing an estimated 350 pounds. Since Richters is a bodybuilder, he too will be maintaining his stature even after season 3 ends, while the core actor will keep up his appearance for the upcomingReacherseason 4. It’s a unique lifestyle that he’s clearly acclimated to, and one that lets him perfectly embody the character.

The Embodiment Of Dedication

Given how massive Ritchson’s food intake is forReacher, it makes sense that his co-stars, like Berchtold, wouldn’t be able to immediately match how much he’s consuming. It also emphasizes just how much the actor has to go through to keep up his physical appearance, something he’ll have to maintain as he continues to portray the nomadic veteran. With his stature such an important part of the show, it seems he’s dedicated to keeping it intact as his role continues.
