What are tonics in Destiny 2’s Episode: Revenant?
Tonics in Destiny 2 Episode: Revenant work like potions and can be made and consumed to provide buffs and drop rate increases for weapons, armor, and resources. Tonics are separated into two types: Volatile and Enriching tonics.
Volatile tonics provide buffs to your guardian such as increased weapon and ability damage. Each Volatile tonic also unlocks a boosted version of one seasonal artifact mod. If you enjoy using a particular mod, you should definitely find its matching tonic and unlock its boosted effect!

Enriching tonics act as focusing for this season, allowing you to receive weapons, armor, and other gear by defeating enemies or completing activities. The first tonic will include multiple items in the loot pool, but later tonics will allow you to guarantee a certain weapon or armor piece to drop.
To make a tonic in Destiny 2:
You can equip a tonic by opening the character menu, heading to your inventory, selecting the Tonic Capsule, and then equipping the tonic in its respective slot. You can only drink one Volatile and one Enriching tonic at a time. Drinking another replaces the active tonic — you won’t receive the unfinished tonic back!

How to unlock more tonic recipes in Destiny 2
You can only unlock more tonic recipes by crafting other tonics. There’s no reason to hoard a heap of resources here. You should craft a new tonic as soon as you have the required ingredients.
You’ll need to craft five of each tonic to unlock the enhanced, more potent tonic of that type. For example, crafting five Diluted tonics of Amplified Arc will unlock the Potent version.

Unlocking more tonics is the key to progressing through each Act of Episode: Revenant and completing Eido’s Fieldwork. Once you’ve unlocked all the recipes and tonics, then we recommend going back and crafting extra tonics for the mods you wish to enhance.

Exotic tonics
There is a secret set of Exotic tonics available to players that grant end-game resources. To access Exotic tonics, you must complete the Act One fieldwork “Extraordinary Tonics,” which gives a chance for a higher-grade tonic to be created when making another tonic.
Then, simply craft as many legendary tonics as you can. The more you craft at once, the higher the chance of an Exotic tonic to spawn. There are no recipes for these tonics, so you won’t be able to make them en masse!
