Lex Scott Davis Previews Suits LA Season 1, Episode 6’s Lester Trial

“This Is A Make-Or-Break Situation For The Firm Too”

ScreenRant: As we get ready for Sunday’s episode, I was hoping, if you could tease me a little bit about how Lester’s trial is going to go now that Lester has admitted what he’s been up to?

Lex Scott Davis: I can’t tell you too much of but yeah, there’s some surprises with the trial. I’m going to leave [it] at that, this is a make-or-break situation for the firm too. I think, more importantly, a lot is riding on this for the success of Ted Black & Associates. It’s really Ted’s story, as much as it’s Lester’s - if he could successfully pull this off, and if the firm will survive, as a result.

Lex Scott Davis On Suits LA Season 1 Getting More Personal With Erica

“It’s The Eighth Episode Where We’ll Step Into Her Personal Life A Little Bit”

One of the things that I’ve been waiting to get a little bit more from this season, and I don’t know if this is something that we might see now in this back-half, but whenever the originalSuitsdelved into some of these characters more personally, I feel we learn so much more about them, is that something we could expect to see for Erica as we get through season 1? Because I feel there’s so many more things that we still haven’t learned about her.

Lex Scott Davis: Yeah, there are some opportunities to learn a little bit more about her. I think what’s nice, she is the only other character in addition to Ted, who you meet [their] family. We meet her mom, so there are moments where her mom will come back and we just see a different side of her that’s really interesting to lean into. Because she can let her guard down when she’s with her mother and the things that she’s dealing with on a personal level, and how different she is outside ofwork versus when she’s in the office. So there’ll be opportunity to see a different side of Erica very soon.

Is there one episode in particular that you think will standout that fans could look can look forward to that for Erica?

Lex Scott Davis: Episode 8, I can’t remember the title, but it’s the eighth episode where we’ll step into her personal life a little bit.

Lex Scott Davis On Suits LA Season 1’s Romance Status

“It’s Definitely How A Lot Of Us Are Reading Into It”

I don’t know if I’m reading this correctly, but when it comes to the romantic side ofSuits LA, I feel like, right now, it’s almost like everyone is flirting with each other.

Lex Scott Davis: Everyone’s flirting with each other, all the time! And I always have to ask, when we go into a scene, I’m like, ‘Okay, just so we’re clear, am I flirting or am I not supposed to be flirting?’ Because it could go either way all the time and it’s actually really funny. I don’t think they write that on purpose, but it’s definitely how a lot of us, the actors, are reading into it. And it’s just funny. I have to check that, especially as the woman talking to all the men, like, ‘Okay, which guy is off limits and which one is the one I can’t flirt with?’ [Laughs] So that’s very funny that you point that out, that you can see that as well. We’re very aware, the actors are very aware of that.

Because there are weeks where I’m like,‘Okay, nowErica and Rickare kind of…,‘there’s obviously something you guys are hinting at with those two. But then another week I would go,‘Damn, Ted and Erica, they’re clicking!‘Heck, there’s been moments where I’m like,‘Oh, Leah and Erica would be cute too!‘Who knows, she could spin both ways!

Lex Scott Davis: [Laughs] There was a Leah/Erica moment, [where] I’m like, ‘Are they….?’ and the writers are like, ‘No, stop. You’re trying to set Erica up with anyone who will take it,’ but that’s hilarious that you’re catching it too, so it’s not just me, good!

Lex Scott Davis On Suits LA Season 1’s Harvey Specter, Louis Litt & Daniel Hardman Returns

“It’s Been Awesome To Be In The Same Sentence With These People In The Same Universe”

Last time we spoke, you were very excited about Gabriel Macht coming on the show, have you had a chance to meet him yet? What was that experience like, or is it yet to come?

Lex Scott Davis: We did meet! We have not worked the same day, but we did meet at the premiere event, which is actually where he met all the actors for the first time. It was a really sweet moment, I think some news has gotten it by now, he just pops up on the carpet and surprises everyone so tha was really sweet. That first interaction between him and Stephen was really amazing and epic. He is very much a supporter, and him coming back is just an extension of that support that he’s always shown and always had for us. It’s a pleasure to be able to have him come back.Rick Hoffman is also coming back as Louis Litt, so to have him is epic. I can’t wait for his scenes. His stuff is very funny, as it always was in the original too.

It’s been awesome to be in the same sentence with these people in the same universe. It’s an honor, so to have them back is just…I can’t wait to absorb all that they have to offer, whether it’s advice, the expertise as an actor, all the things,I’m very lucky to have a front row seat of this.

Does that mean that Erica and Louis get to share the screen? Because that’s a dynamic that would be bonkers. It sounds amazing since you know about his scenes…

Lex Scott Davis: [Laughs] I can’t say, but know that it’s going to epic.

I knowDaniel Hardman is also coming back, [and] he’s one of the greatest big bads ofSuits, so might Erica get to clash with him?

Lex Scott Davis: [Laughs while shrugging]

Lex Scott Davis On Suits LA Season 1’s Remaining Episodes & Mysterious Finale

“As A Fan, I Want To Know What Happens With These Characters”

Before I wrap, how is everything going with filming so far, and how long is this season? Are we getting 22 episodes, or where are you guys at right now?

Lex Scott Davis: 13 - we are currently filming episode 11 out of 13, so we are very close to our break. Hopefully we come back for a second [season] but it’s been such a joy. I love this cast and crew. Everyone is just so passionate about what they do, they enjoy showing up to work and that trickles down [to when] you can feel the joy when people come and are ready to play. We’re ready to get in there and be a bunch of big adult kids and play make believe for a living and really be on the same team. This, honestly, became a dream, this was already an iconic, huge job [and] opportunity, but moving and staying in LA and having an amazing cast and crew is just really a whole well rounded dream job for me. So I’m just looking forward to continuing, hopefully we come back and we get to do this again. I’m really, really enjoying going to work.

Is there anything you can tease about the end of the season? Because I know Aaron Korsh is always very good with finales when it comes to his shows.

Lex Scott Davis: So, that’s the thing; I don’t know the finale! We don’t know the finale. I wish I knew, as a fan, I want to know what happens with these characters. I want to know how it all ends and who’s going to pop up in our 13th episode. We don’t know. We just had our table read for episode 12 yesterday, so that’s where we are right now. [With] the finale, I have no idea, so I’m very excited to find out with you.

Lex, it’s always fun talking to you, and I cannot wait to see how this all plays out, as well as who Erica ends up with! Because I was thinking, ‘Should I ask her this about or am I reading into it?’ But thank God that we’re on the same page!

Lex Scott Davis: Oh, we’re on the same page. I have to ask every scene [and] make sure I don’t throw anyone off, [like] ‘Am I flirting with this person or not?’ [laughs] We all just have a good time, it just flows!
