Disneyhas been producing animated films for decades, which have become more successful over the years. FromBeauty and the BeasttoThe Lion King, the brand put out some critically acclaimed and still-loved works throughout the 20th century. The company later bought Pixar and produced some of the modern era’s most acclaimed and successful animated films, includinglast year’sInside Out 2, which was the highest-grossing animated movie of all time for a brief period, before being dethroned by 2025’sNe Zha 2.
In recent years, however, Disney has been reviving their past animated successes to prop up live-action remakes.This kicked off with Tim Burton’sAlice in Wonderland,which became an increasing trend throughout the 2010s and 2020s. Most recently, Disney is releasing a live-actionSnow White,starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. The firstSnow Whitereviewsare in, but they are skewing mixed to negative, which is getting a 47% Tomatometer. Leading up to this release, another of Disney’s live-action efforts is now doing well on streaming.

ScreenRant’s Rachel Labonte gaveSnow White5 out of 10 stars, noting, “The CGI-created dwarfs have earned plenty of scorn already, and I wish I could say they aren’t really that bad on the big screen, but it only gives the whole movie an artificial sheen.”
Cinderella Is Dancing Its Way Onto The Streaming Charts
The Movie Got Better Reviews Than Snow White
Cinderellais now on the streaming charts. The live-action adaptation starring Lily James came out in 2015 and really launched the big wave of Disney remakes. UnlikeSnow White,Cinderellareceived fairly positive reviews overall, scoring an 84% Tomatometerand 78% Popcornmeter. The film also did fairly well at the box office, making over $542 million against an estimated $95 million budget. FollowingCinderella,several other 2010s live-action adaptations came, includingThe Jungle Book,Beauty and the Beast,Dumbo,Aladdin, and the infamousThe Lion Kingin 2019.

Per Disney+,Cinderellais now trending on the streaming service. In the top 10 overall charts — which includes movie and TV titles from both Disney+ itself and their bundled streaming partner, Hulu — the 2015 live-action film came in at no. 9. Also making it into that top 10 today (March 20) wereMoana 2,Daredevil: Born Again,Win or Lose,Good American Family,Disney’s Snow White: A Special Look,Anora,Lilo & Stich 2: Stitch Has a Glitch,Moana 2 Singalong, andBill Burr: Drop Dead Years.
