Below Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5 is nearly at its conclusion, but with the season almost over,it’s been a complete flop- and not only because of Gary King’s bad behavior before the season began. Throughout the season,Below Deck Sailing Yachthas been difficult, especially after the drama that preceded the premiere. Throughout the hiatus between the last season of the series and the current one, viewers got the opportunity to speculate about how the show was going handle Gary’s poor behavior. DuringBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5’s filming, allegations of sexual misconduct about Gary came to light.

While many were concerned that the allegations about Gary, which revolved around theFirst Officer and aBelow Deckmakeup artist, would wind up being true and derail the show, he vehemently denied all the accusations. As Gary was maintaining his innocence, itquickly became obvious that he wasn’t going to face legitimate consequences this seasononBelow Deck Sailing Yacht.Instead, the series edited around Gary to the best of their abilities, but he was still featured in the show throughout the season. Some viewers struggled with his presence, while others disliked how disjointed the show felt without Gary.

Danni & Diana Complained Too Much

They Weren’t Interested In Working With Daisy

Although there are often issues between Chief Stews and their subordinates, the drama between Daisy Kelliher and her stews Danni Warren and Diana Cruz was stressful and overwhelming throughoutBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5. The stews, both of whom were new to theBelow Deckfranchise and each only had a few years under their belts in the industry, struggled heartily with their boss, Chief Stew Daisy. Having been part ofBelow Deck Down Undersince its early days, Daisy has had her fair share of difficulties, butthe current stews have been absurdly tough for her to manage.

The Cast Doesn’t Have The Best Chemistry

They Don’t Get Along As A Cohesive Group

ThroughoutBelow DeckSailing Yachtseason 5, the cast has proven that they don’t have the same chemistry as previous casts on the series, or other casts in the franchise. Although the crew has managed to figure out how to work together in most circumstances and offer the charter guests an incredible time aboard Parsifal III, theyhaven’t been able to build rapport in the way mostBelow Deckcasts do. ThroughoutBelow Deck Sailing Yacht, viewers have watched as the cast struggles to communicate directly or find themselves invested in anything but themselves despite urgent pleas to do so.

There are several different reasons that the cast may not have been working well together throughout the season, or have, but have some negative feelings about their treatment.Below Deck Sailing Yacht’scasthad a hard time working toegther because there are too many layers of respect to go around. Although there’s already a hierarchy, theBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5 has chosen their own hierarchy for the most part, which has beenmaking it impossible for them to find each other in genuinely difficult momentsor communicate responsibly about whatever issues they may be facing aboard Parsifal III.

The Drama Was Kind Of Boring When There Was Some

It Wasn’t An Overly Dramatic Season

Although there were some interesting moments onBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5,there haven’t been many intense or dramatic moments between the cast this season.Below Deck Sailing Yacht’sdrama has been somewhat boringin its later episodes, especially knowing the crew has been able to do their jobs successfully. WhileDaisy’s drama with her stewshas been tough on her, the show has been hiding the real drama Daisy and her former flirty friend Gary have been dealing with as their relationship has been crumbling. Although Daisy’s professional drama can be fun, it’s been clear there’s more happening.

The interior department being an issue of its own, butBelow Deck Sailing Yachthad other issues throughout the superyacht crew. Notably, Gary faced drama with one ofhis early deckhands Emma Crouch, and though she was fired near the middle of the season and replaced with Chase LeMacks, it was an intense stretch of episodes. The issue withBelow Deck Sailing Yacht’sdrama, or lack there of, has been that it’s revolved around the professional side of the crew rather than the personal.Things have grown stale and sparse as the season has continued and the crew has improved.

Captain Glenn Is Trying Too Hard To Put His Foot Down

His Ego Is Getting The Best Of Him

AlthoughCaptain Glenn Shephard is the leaderof Parsifal III’s crew, he’s also the least likely to be featured on the series out of anyone on the cast. Viewers aren’t flocking toBelow Deck Sailing Yachtto see Captain Glenn and his abilities aboard the sailing yacht, but instead find him in moments where he has to assert his power over his crew. While watching Captain Glenn has been interesting in moments,he’s had more of an ego than ever duringBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5. Seeing him put his foot down has been overwhelming and unnecessary for most.

While the Captain of aBelow Deckvessel always has to be able to discipline their crew and follow a code of conduct, Captain Glenn has been trying too hard to make himself seem tough this season while refusing to call out genuine issues. Rather than trying to discipline Gary’s behavior, for example, when it’s been inappropriate, he’s spent the majority of the charter throwing shade onto Daisy and sharingempty threats with Chef Cloyce Martin, making it clear that he’snot trying to use his power to create changeonBelow Deck Sailing Yacht, but instead ineffectively create drama.
