Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warhas made a name for itself with all the major additions it’s made to the manga’s story, and it looks like fans are in for at least one more big change: a wedding. Once skipped over in the manga, fans may get to see this wedding in animated form.

WhenThousand-Year Blood Warbegan to be adapted, fans were eager to see the new series specifically because the ending of the manga was so rushed that it skipped over some very important scenes. While changes were minimal at first, they’ve grown more significant with each cour, and now the currently airing episodes have featured some major new scenes, particularly involving Uryu, making him into a character as important as he was always stated to be. Fans expect the fourth cour to include a substantial amount of added content, based on how much manga is left to adapt, and it looks like the wedding may be part of that.

Bleach Will Finally Show Rukia and Renji’s Wedding

The Long-Awaited Moment Will Bring Together the Two Soul Reapers

In the final chapters of theBleachmanga, which are set 10 years later,Rukia and Renji are shown to be marriedand have a child, Ichika Abarai. However, their wedding is completely skipped over, despite being the kind of major event one would expect to have at least a few panels dedicated to it. It’s only with the first mention of Ichika that it becomes apparent that Rukia and Renji are officially together, something that should really have more impact than it does.

In an interview with Studio Pierrot, Renji’s voice actor, Kentaro Ito, was asked if he had any parting words forBleachfans at the end of the interview. He states,“I hope everyone is enjoyingBleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. I have been trying to bring the world ofBleachto life through the character [Renji]… Please stay with me through my final ‘scene’ between Renji and Rukia.“It’s certainly interesting that he would mention a final scene with Rukia, suggesting that their marriage may well be depicted on screen in the anime.

Renji and Rukia’s wedding would certainly make for a joyous celebration after the defeat of Yhwach, and would give characters a chance to relax and let loose before the series completely ends.Part ofBleach’s ending problemsare due to the fact that it’s so abrupt, going from Yhwach’s defeat into a 10-year timeskip without so much as a beat to appreciate the significance of this accomplishment. Getting to see Renji and Rukia’s wedding would certainly be an excellent way to give fans a breather after the final battle, while showing a scene that was desperately missing from the manga.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warhas done an excellent job of expanding on its source material so far, with help from Tite Kubo himself, so there’s no reason to expect any different for this wedding. If this is indicative of the kind of content thatBleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warwants to add to the series' ending, then fans are in for a real treat when the final episodes come around at last.
