We may be inching closer to aGrand Theft Auto 6release date, based on the latest news aboutBorderlands 4. Both games are scheduled to be released this year, and there’s relatively little we know about either one of them.Borderlands 4has only gotten two trailers -GTA 6still just the one. But both games got major updates this February, and, considering what we now know aboutBorderlands 4’s release date, it may have just gotten a lot easier to predictGTA 6’s.
If Borderlands 4 is set to be released on June 03, 2025, then it’s likelyGTA 6, with its fall 2025 release windowrevealed during Take-Two’s earnings call, will come out closer to October or Novemberto avoid conflict. It’s a little-known fact thatBorderlandsandGTAare published by the same parent company: Take-Two Interactive, which owns both 2K and Rockstar. While the two games obviously have different development and marketing teams, there may be an overlap in resources at Take-Two. It’d make sense to space them out a bit, so the company isn’t stretched totally thin.

This is a pretty common practice in the entertainment industry at large:movies, TV series, and games with similar audiences are typically spaced out, so the target audience of one doesn’t end up conflicting with the target audience of the other. Most fans of both series wouldn’t be likely to pick up both games on launch if they came out in the same month - who can afford that, especiallyifGTA 6really does cost $100? Take-Two obviously wants both its games to succeed, and it wouldn’t give either a fair chance by releasing them so close together.
Therefore, it seems probable thatGTA 6will be out later in the fall. SinceBorderlandsis coming so late in September,it’ll likely be late October at the earliest that we see aGTA 6release. You could make the case for a November/early December release, too;GTA 6is likely to be a fairly popular gift this year, so putting it out right in time for Black Friday and the holiday shopping season would also make a lot of sense.

For my money, I don’t thinkGTA 6will be out in October.An early-mid November release makes a lot more sense to me- give players more than a full month to beatBorderlands 4, keep the game relevant in the public eye, but give holiday shoppers plenty of lead time to get their hands on a copy. Demand forGTA 6is going to be massive; it’ll be interesting to watch the sales numbers skyrocket once it’s finally out.
Take-Two CEO Claims The Release Of GTA 6 Could Help Sell More Consoles & Teases At PC Launch
In a new interview, the CEO of GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive has said that GTA 6 could boost console sales and teases a PC release.
At the same time, though,I’m in no rush to playGTA 6. Not only do we havetons of new releases coming outbetween now and then, but I’ve also got my own massive backlog of Steam sale purchases. I’d rather see Rockstar take all the time it needs to finish developingGTA 6, so it has the best chance to be every bit as groundbreaking as the rest of the series. If that means waiting until November or even early December, I’m okay with that.
Whatever the case, it’ll likely be some time until we hear 6.Rockstar is notorious for keeping mumabout its upcoming games, letting fans drive the hype cycle naturally with their wild speculation and breathless theory-making. Still, these latest theories are encouraging, because if nothing else, they confirm thatGrand Theft Auto 6will still be out in 2025 (barring any unexpected delays, of course).
