Watts certainly knows how to steer a big action franchise

Well before the release of firstWolfsinstallment, Apple has already confirmed that aWolfssequel is in development with Pitt, Clooney, and Watts set to return. This is clearly a sign of good faith in the latest Pitt and Clooney film, which will also get a one-week limited theatrical run leading up to its global streaming release in late September. The announcement of a sequel before the release of the initial film isa promising sign for the budding Clooney-Pitt franchise.

Clooney starred in several films together during the 2000s, including all three installments of the Steven SoderberghOcean’strilogy. They both appeared in 2002’sConfession of a Dangerous Mind, written by Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), although Clooney had a leading role while Pitt, and Matt Damon for that matter, played unnamed bartenders. Additionally, both Clooney and Pitt were voice actors in John Krasinski’sIF, butWolfsis set to offer a much more proper onscreen reunion for the two Hollywood legends.

Wolfs 2 Is Better For Pitt & Clooney Than Returning For Ocean’s 14

The new Clooney-Pitt franchise could be a fresh take on the action comedy

While anOcean’s 14movie seems hopefully inevitable at some point, the newly annoucnedWolfssequel sounds like a great and unexpected new franchise for the two Hollywood legends. At the very least,WolfsandWolfs 2will offer something new instead of returning to a familiar franchise after so many years. AnOcean’s 14still sounds amazing andthe potential success ofWolfsandWolfs 2could inspire the gang to get back togetherin an upcoming Soderbergh heist comedy. Apple’s recent heist comedyThe Instigatorsalso seems to be headed in that direction with Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, but theWolfsmovies should hold audiences over in the meantime.
