Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man chapter #180Chainsaw Mancontinues to be strange and unpredictable as Part Two stretches on, and author Tatsuki Fujimoto seemingly insists on making his story as weird as it can get. Though, amongst the chaos of chapter #180, titled “Aging’s World”, fans might notice a striking development whichbears resemblence to another recently completed Shōnen Jump seriesof massive popularity,Jujutsu Kaisen.
While it’s typical to assume that a story spanning over five years of publication will have established the abilities of certain characters,Chainsaw Manis never satisfied to meet the expectations of its readers. Instead, the most recent chapter introduces anew power courtesy of the Aging Devil, who banishes Asa and Denji to an alternate reality, separate from the battleground on which the two had previously been fighting.

Similar to Domain Expansion, and Yuji’s in particular,Aging sends the dual protagonists to its own world, in which its inhabitants do not age and there is little chance of escape. As Denji remains knocked out cold on the ground, however, it may be Asa’s turn to reenter the spotlight, as the titularChainsaw Man has enjoyed the majority share of attentionover the last arc. With new abilities still being introduced, the possibilities for whereChainsaw Manmight venture next are endless.
The Aging Devil’s Powers Introduce a New Concept to Chainsaw Man
Aging Devil Sends Asa and Denji to Another World
Primal Devils like Aging have long been established as supremely powerful and fearsome entities.Representing the deepest fears of humans, they boast heightened strength and unique abilities that other devils and hybrids do not possess. Darkness was able to manifest itself and cloak its surroundings in Part One, severing the limbs of the main cast without ever physically touching them. Earlier in Part Two, the Falling Devil was able to manipulate gravity, causing people to fall upwards into doors to Hell.
Aging Devil is thefirst to have the power to send others to a sort of pocket dimension, in which there is a world of its creation. Eternity Devil could do something similar, as seen during the story’s hotel and aquarium sections, though that ability stranded others in an endless loop of wherever they already were, rather than sending them off somewhere else. Aging’s world is seemingly a far more devastating display of power, as another one of its inhabitants explains that only one person has escaped in 82 years.

Just as Asa and Denji arrive in the world, Yoru takes control of her host and immediately tries to use the “bang” attack on the still unconscious Denji. Regardless of the implication that she’s been lying to Asa about planning not to kill him, the attack doesn’t work, meaning that devil abilities are useless in the dimension. Asa will have to find a way to escape without leaning on Yoru’s power, while it’s unknown if Denji will even be able to transform, if he ever wakes up. It may be an unfortunate position to be in, but there is certainly an opportunity for more Asa and Denji companionship.
Asa and Yoru Are Trapped in Chainsaw Man’s Version of a Domain Expansion
Yuji’s Long-Awaited Domain Expansion Also Created a Pocket Dimension
In recent years, very few anime and manga terms have penetrated mainstream culture likeJujutsu Kaisen’s Domain Expansion. And thoughChainsaw ManandJujutsu Kaisenshare little similarity apart from the publication in which they reside, the former seems to have taken inspirationfrom the recently completed battle series in its newly introduced ‘Aging World’.
In particular, Aging’s new ability shares commonalities withYuji’s still unnamed Domain Expansion. As Yuji is able to transform his surroundings into hometown settings with which he is familiar, Aging is able to send foes to a world entirely of its own making. The inner workings of Aging’s world have yet to be established, outside of it existing as some contained dimension in a separate space from reality, much likeJJK’s domains.

Now thatChainsaw Manhas ventured into unknown territory for the series, predicting what will come in future chapters becomes even more of a Herculean task. While Aging’s new power isn’t likely to have as much significance asJujutsu Kaisen’s Domain Expansion, incorporating some of its effects might just add to the chaos that Fujimoto is so inclined to incorporate in his series. Nevertheless, future chapters ofChainsaw Manare guaranteed to not only be exciting, but will also keep fans on their toes.
