Summary
Following his live-action debut in 2023’sAhsoka,the Jedi droid Professor Huyanghas just made a surprising and wholly unexpectedStar Warsreturn in 2024. A droid far older than Jedi Master Yoda himself, Huyang has a greater ability to appear in moreStar Warsprojects than most characters in the galaxy far, far away. To that end, the ancient droid voiced by David Tennant has just made his latest animated appearance in theHigh Republic Era.
InYoung Jedi Adventuresseason 2, episode 4, Jedi youngling Nubs comes across an ancient broken lightsaber while exploring the ruins of a Jedi Temple with Master Yoda and his fellow younglings. Due to his discovery and the fact that it was once wielded by a Pooba just like Nubs, the youngling joins Yoda on a visit to get the weapon repaired and stored in the Jedi Archives on Coruscant. There,Nubs gets to meet none other than Professor Huyang, who repairs the lightsaberhe remembers belonged to the great Jedi Master Barabo.
Serving as a great cameo that makes perfect sense for the High Republic Era with an ancient lightsaber in need of repair,Huyang’s newestStar Warsappearance further proves just how old the professor himself is in the establishedStar Warstimeline.

Star Wars Confirms Just How Old Huyang Really Is

According to theStar Wars: Timelinesreference book, Professor Huyang is approximately 25,000 years old, having been created by the First Jedi during the creation of the very first lightsabers. To that end,Huyang’s great age is further proven inYoung Jedi Adventureby recalling the construction of a lightsaber so old even Yoda himself calls it ancient. As such, Huyang’s latest appearance in the High Republic Era of theStar Warstimeline may very well be just the beginning. After all,James Mangold is currently developing aDawn of the Jedimoviewhich will reportedly be set around the same period as Huyang’s creation in theStar Warscanon.
