DC Comics is Honoring Pride with a Powerful New Anthology

In 2021, DC Comics celebrated Pride Month with the anthology one-shot,DC Pride. This anthology has become an annual celebration and, for the past four years, DC Comics has kept up the good work, lifting LGBTQIA+ creators and providing a space for touching, meaningful stories from all sorts of different people within the community. In more recent years, DC has expanded Pride’s presence in June. Not just with variant covers, but by creating additional books to go along withDC Pride, such asDC Pride: Through the Yearsor last year’s touching tribute,DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack.

While this newDC Pridekeeps the spirit of the anthology, it’s wonderful to see the special evolving into something new and even more creative. Alan’s journey inAlan Scott: The Green Lanterntouched a lot of people, and it’s amazing to see his story continue and serve as a framing device for other LGBTQIA+ characters. It’s also great to see DC Comics bringing in readers via the letter column, asking them to tell their stories and share what Pride has meant to them. It’ssimply great to see DC Comics continue to show its support for the LBGTQIA+ community.

Amid Uncertain TImes, DC Comics Reaffirms It’s For Everyone

DC Comics Isn’t Backing Down from Supporting Pride

It’s become an unfortunate sight to see companies back down from more inclusive efforts, with many toning down or even doing away with Pride acknowledgment altogether. Thankfully, DC Comics sees and recognizes the community, both the people that read and support these characters and stories as well as the people that create them. It’s nice to know that DC is standing firm and lifting its LGBTQIA+ characters and giving everyone an opportunity to see themselves in these stories. With everythingDC Comicshas in store, this could very well be its best Pride anthology yet.
