Diane Nelson is the President of DC Comics , so outside of Warner Bros. , she is the most influential soul on the satellite in terms of getting DC theatrical role onto a movie screen . And her first selection ? Neil Gaiman ’s Sandman .
Of course , this is not an announcement of a Sandman motion picture . The Hollywood Reporter(page 2 ) merely ask Nelson what characters and titles she want DC to make movies of , her answer was this : “ Sandman is right on top . I think it could be as robust as the Harry Potter universe . Fables . Metal Men . Justice League . And yes , I ’m going to say it : Aquaman . ”
evidently , Warner Bros. makes the final call , but the head honcho of DC announcing that Sandman deserves a movie is by no means inconsequential . Especially when you sum up this barely oracular tweet from Neil Gamiman :

It is . RT@Starocotes:@neilhimselfvery interesting that Diane Nelson mentioned Sandman here : http://t.co / I042YpsYdA

I do n’t believe we can say a Sandman movie is pass for sure , but I remember we can safely assume someone ’s working on one . I also cerebrate Nelson is way too affirmative about Sandman reaching Harry Potter level — 1 ) it ’s too unearthly for aggregative interview to make a long0running franchise out of , and 2 ) it ’s way too dark — but even a single Sandman film would go a long path into serve DC arrest up with Marvel , box billet - wise .

Unless Warner Bros. got cold metrical unit midway through and ended up afford Sandman that same treatment it give Jonah Hex . Which is probably what will fall out . Still , everyone knows it ’s nice to dream .
