The Sew Delightful Update has launched inDisney Dreamlight Valleyand perhaps the most exciting new feature is the addition of Floating Islands. For those who have noticed the strange bits of land floating off in the distance while exploring the valley and wished they could occupy the extra space, you finally can.

Whether you’re planning to banish some villagers to a remote location or design a uniquely themed getaway that doesn’t clash with your overall valley, Floating Islands are the perfect way to completely rethink your designs. Furthermore, don’t worry about space, these islands are massive and can easily hold the homes of several villagers if you’d like them to.

Pre-Requisites For Unlocking Floating Islands

Assist Fairy Godmother With The Orb Of Remembrance

Unfortunately, much like any otherDisney Dreamlight Valleyupdate, Floating Islands aren’t just automatically available to everyone. While they are technically part of the game now, you will need to complete some tasks before you are presented with the quest associated with them. Primarily, you’ll need to have completed the What’s Left Behind quest with the Fairy Godmother, which is the quest in which you restore the Orb of Remembrance.

How To Get Free Moonstones In Disney Dreamlight Valley

Moonstones are valuable in-game currency in Disney Dreamlight Valley and luckily, there are a few different ways to get them completely for free.

The What’s Left Behind quest is a pretty late-game story quest, so if you’re new to the game or haven’t prioritized story content, then you may have to wait a bit before you have access to the islands. If you have completed it, thenMerlin should have a new quest for you once you’ve updated your game. Speak with him to officially kick off the Islands in The Sky quest and begin unlocking this new and exciting feature.

Help Merlin Get Some Peace & Quiet

When talking to Merlin, he’ll excitedly inform you that something new and exciting has arrived in the valley. After explaining a bit about the floating islands, he’ll tell you that to visit them, you simply need tohead over to any of the wells in the valley and access the fast-travel option on the map. Here, you will see several tabs if you also have theDisney Dreamlight Valleyexpansions, but if not, then you should at least now have the Valley, Realms, and Floating Islands.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Star Paths Explained

Disney Dreamlight Valley has regular events called Star Paths that offer limited-time rewards, but what are Star Paths and how do they work?

Switch over to the Floating Islands tab and select the Plaza one, which should be the only one unlocked. Once selected, you’ll be transported, along with Merlin, to the first of four Floating Islands. As Merlin discussed, there are four islands in total, each themed after a different section of the Valley. Unfortunately, not every biome has received a Floating Island, at least not yet, so you only have ones themed after the Plaza, Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, and Frosted Heights.

When discussing the Floating Islands with Merlin, he informs you that he is ready for some peace, as the valley has become way too busy for him. Therefore,he would like you to solve this problem by moving him to the Plaza-themed Island. If you don’t have either of the expansions, it can be a little confusing to figure out how to move a villager’s home to somewhere that you can’t see, but you don’t do it by picking it up and dragging it like you might in the valley.

I’m Obsessed With This New Disney Dreamlight Valley Feature In Storybook Vale

One feature stands out in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s second DLC expansion, Storybook Vale as being one of the most fun additions to the game.

Instead, while you’re on the island, open up the build menu and there will be a tab specifically for villagers' homes labeled Houses. This not only includes every villager’s home in the entire game but also the houses that you’ve placed in the valley and expansion locations. Select the Dreamlight Library, also known as Merlin’s house, and there will be a pop-up informing you that once you place his home on the island it will disappear from its current location.

Unfortunately, there is no way at this time to have duplicate villager homeslike you can with the player’s homes, so you’ll have to make a final decision when placing houses. After you’ve placed Merlin’s home on the island, he would like you to add a few decorations. You can pick any five items you want or open the build tab again and select the Merlin tab to see some options.Once you’ve placed at least five decor items, speak with Merlin again to complete the quest.

How To Unlock All Four Floating Islands

Earn Dreamlight To Unlock The Remaining Islands

While wrapping things up with Merlin, he’ll inform you about the other three islands. Although you received this one free of charge, the others will cost you some Dreamlight, just like their associated biomes did at the start of the game. Specifically, each additional island will cost 15,000 DreamlightinDisney Dreamlight Valley. This means if you want to unlock them all, you’ll need at least 45,000 Dreamlight available.

Don’t forget that you cancraft Dreamlight using Dream Shardsinstead of just completing Dreamlight Duties.Every 10 Dream Shards can craft 250 Dreamlight, so if you have a surplus of those and are short on Dreamlight, this could be a quick way to gain access to the remaining islands.

While it’s a steep cost, the islands are more than worth it, as they give players a chance to completely redecorate their valleys and get rid of some of the less appealingvillagers' homes inDisney Dreamlight Valley. Don’t worry, however: even if you relocate a villager, they will still appear in the main valley and expansions like normal. Additionally, other villagers will visit the island even if they don’t live on it, so it won’t be completely isolated.

Which Disney Dreamlight Valley feature has completely improved your gameplay?

I tend to keep up with every developer update that Disney Dreamlight Valley puts out, and I love it when I end up using a feature that I didn’t expect to be helpful. I was over the moon about being able to leave my house from any floor rather than going back downstairs constantly. When this was added, I had just moved my storage chests from the Plaza to the third floor of my home, and I spent two weeks getting annoyed with having to keep getting on and off the lift.

At this point, you can put Merlin’s home back where it was, if you would like, and begin decorating the first of your floating islands. Don’t forget, however, that there are a few other new features in the game as part of the Sew Delightful update, including the addition of Sally fromThe Nightmare Before Christmas, who is eager to be reunited with Jack inDisney Dreamlight Valley.
