Wickedis a return to the world of Oz, and its not going to be the end, so is there a post-credits scene teasing what else is to come? When it was announced that Warner Bros. was developing a live-action movie based on the hit Broadway musical, questions about how the entire play would be squeezed into a single film quickly came. A solution came when it was decided tosplitWickedinto two movies, withWicked: Part Twoset for a November 2025 release date - nearly a year to the day after the first film’s debut.
The knowledge thatWicked 2is confirmedand will build onWicked’s cliffhanger endingmakes the movie more closely resemble other major franchises. Teasing audiences with another film that is still to come that will returnWicked’s cast membersCynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda creates other expectations nowadays too. It’s become increasingly popular for franchises to include post-credits scenes teasing what could come in the future, especially when a sequel is already on the way. WithWicked 2fitting that mold, it would not have been too surprising ifWickedincluded an after-credits scene.

Wicked Does Not Have A Post-Credits Scene
The Movie’s Ending Is Left As Is
It is confirmed thatWickeddoes not have a post-credits scene of any kind. The movie’s credits roll without the interruption of a mid-credits scene, and there is no end-credits scene when the credits and music stop. Audiences do not need to worry about missing a vital scene that teasesWicked 2’s story coming during the credits as a result. However, it is still encouraged to sit through the credits whilewatchingWickedin theaters or on streamingto see the names of everyone who worked so hard on the film.
A Wicked Post-Credits Scene Was Unnecessary
Wicked 2 Is Already Set Up Without One
The decision not to include aWickedpost-credits scene is undoubtedly the right one for the film. It would have been difficult for the movie to include one that wouldn’t feel unnecessary to some degree. The main purpose of post-credits scenes is to further setup the story that is to come, butWicked’s ending already provides plenty of signals of what audiences can expect in the next installment. It also would have risked taking some of the impact away from where it leaves Elphaba and Glinda’s story by being too focused on showing viewers more of the sequel.

Perhaps the only option for aWickedend-credits scene that would have made sense is if it was the firstWicked 2trailer. This would have given viewers a chance to see the first footage from the sequel and catch a glimpse of what is coming next. However, the timing of it may have negatively impacted the film or the sequel’s trailer. It’s ultimately much better forWickedandWicked 2that there was not a post-credits scene here. Audiences can now stay mostly focused on the contents of the first film instead of looking too far ahead.
