Iconic Dragon Ball Z Transformations Finally Confirmed For Sparking! Zero
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is about to bring the fusions, as multiple fused characters from DBZ and beyond have been announced for the title.
9Goku Is The Face Of The Series
There Can’t Be A Dragon Ball Game Without Him
If there is anything to do withDragon Ball,Goku is likely around the corner. Almost everyone in the world can recognize the franchise’s protagonist with his iconic spiky hair (which now comes in many different colors) and orange gi, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that he is inProject: Multi. There is noDragon Ballwithout Son Goku, who has also been known to go by Kakarot with some Saiyans (with Vegeta and Broly being the two most obvious examples), and there was also no way anyDragon Ballgame could exist without this man leading the way.
Son Goku is based off Son Wukong, the Monkey King fromJourney to the West, who is also getting a new game withBlack Myth: Wukong.

A powerhouse in both the manga world and his own universe (or multiverse),Goku shows off his iconic Super Saiyan transformation in the trailer. The series is known for its many forms and transformations into those forms, so it is good to see it inProject: Multi, alongside Ki blasts, flying, and martial arts. In fact, Goku is a martial artist, first and foremost, to the point where his quest for improvement and fighting strong opponents has become a meme within the community since it does seem that the Saiyan will fight anyone powerful.
8Vegeta Has Become Dragon Ball’s Deuteragonist
And Is Goku’s Brilliant Rival
With the introduction of Vegeta and other Saiyans at the start ofDragon Ball Z, the series began to transform into the story that the modern audience knows and loves. Vegeta, who began as a villain, became the template for the key foil and rival that has become a staple in many other media. He keeps up with Goku in terms of power and the pair have been pushing each other to become stronger and stronger ever since the Prince of all Saiyans (which really isn’t that many) was introduced.
Every full-blooded Saiyan’s name is based on a vegetable. Kakarot is named after a carrot, Vegeta after vegetables in general, Broly after broccoli, and so on.

Vegeta will likely bring some of his iconic attacks, like the Galick Gun and Final Flash,toProject: Multiand will show off his many transformations since he has almost as many as his rival. Powerful, prideful, and serious, Vegeta has made an impact on the series ever since his introduction, and his character development, especially in lateDragon Ball ZandSuperhas made him not only a fan favorite, but also an iconic character that stands out in a very famous cast. If there is somethingDragon Ballrelated, Vegeta is likely close by.
7Future Trunks Is A Fan Favorite In The Dragon Ball Franchise
Not To Be Mistaken With Kid Trunks
It can get a bit confusing with Trunks, since time travel and parallel universes are involved, but despite the confusion,Future Trunks has become a fan favorite without having that much screen timecompared to the likes of Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, and others. Not to be confused with Kid Trunks, who is part of the main timeline, Future Trunks comes from a dystopian future in which Android 18 and 19 destroyed most of the world. He is known for being one of the few sword-wielders in the series, which gives him a unique move set.
Being the son of Vegeta,Future Trunks has his father’s power and no-nonsense attitude without his immense ego. This has led to his being seen as the character who doesn’t mess around and who will get the job done while the likes of Goku will sit and wait to fight his enemies at their strongest. With a sword and some training from both his father and a future version of Gohan, Trunks has quite the moveset that will hopefully make its way intothe upcomingDragon Ballgame.
6Piccolo Is One Of Goku’s Oldest Rivals
And Has His Iconic Special Beam Canon
Piccolo has been around since the days ofDragon Ball, being the son of King Piccolo after he spat out an egg with his dying breath(yes, the originalDragon Ballcould be very strange). After his introduction, Piccolo became somewhat of a rival to Goku, then mentor to Gohan after his rival role was taken by Vegeta. Known as a tactician with a very varied moveset, that consists of cloning, stretchy arms, regeneration, a beam that conjures clothing, and, of course, his iconic Special Beam Canon, Piccolo should have plenty to bring toProject: Multi.
Surprisingly, Piccolo was thelate Akira Toriyama’s favorite character.
What helps make Piccolo unique among the Z Fighters is that he is originally from the planet Namek, hence his green skin, many unique abilities, and antennae. Although he had fallen behind in terms of power, recently Piccolo has received some love with a new form, dubbed Orange Piccolo, that makes him one of the heavy hitters among a cosmically powerful cast. With his mentor status with Gohan and his intelligent, tactical nature, Piccolo is always around when aDragon Ballgame is announced.
5Krillin Has Been A Dragon Ball Staple Since The Series Began
He’s Been Around Almost As Long As Goku
Before Vegeta, Piccolo and even Tien, Krillin was Goku’s main rival, but their rivalry has always been a friendly one.The pair are the best of friends in the series, and despite being left behind from a power standpoint pretty much as soon asDragon Ball Zstarted, Krillin has been an icon in the series, so much so that he is always featured in games, such asProject: Multi.Having trained alongside Goku under Master Roshi, Krillin has a varied arsenal of attacks, and has shown that he can be quite crafty when the need arises.
Although he lacks the transformations of the many aliens inDragon Ball, there are plenty of moves that Krillin can bring toProject: Multi. He has the Solar Flare to blind foes, the Kamehameha, and his signature move, the Destructo Disc, which can slice through almost anything.
4Android 18 Is Another Reformed Villain
But She Is More Of A Cyborg
Android 18 is one of the many creations by Dr. Gero, the head scientist of the Red Ribbon army, but she rebelled against her master alongside her brother and later joined the Z Fighters. There are two variants of her: the heroic version in the main timeline and the villainous one that was destroyed by Trunks in the future. The one from the main timeline features inProject: Multi, and is the one that everyone knows and loves, sporting herDragon Ball Superattire for the game.
Android 18’s birth name is Lazuli, although she doesn’t use it anymore.
Cool, calm, and confident,Android 18 and her brother are unique among the Z Fighters for not being overly emotional, and her demeanor plays off her husband Krillin’s excitable attitude quite well. Although she lacks the shielding powers of her brother, Android 18, who is actually more of a cyborg, has a few abilities to make her stand out among the Z Fighters, such as having infinite energy due to having artificial parts. She is one of the many former villains in the cast and has become popular among fans.
3Fat Buu Is The Only Buu Variant That Has Been Confirmed
He’s The Friendliest Of The Bunch
There are many, many forms of Majin Buu, but the only one with relatively good intentions is Fat Buu. Although not the kindest name, Fat Buu refers to the first version seen inDragon Ball ZandSuper, who has a child-like attitude after fusing with the Grand Supreme Kai.He is also known as Innocent Buu, then later Good Buuafter expelling, and then being absorbed by, his evil half. Good Buu later joins the Z Fighters and acts as Mr Satan’s best friend, helping him win more World Martial Arts Championships.
Buu has a wacky arsenal of abilities and is one of the stronger Z Fighters, thanks to being the villain ofDragon Ball Z’s last major arc. His powers include, but are not limited to, having a putty-like body, extreme regeneration, harnessing Ki, copying attacks, turning people into candy, healing others, and absorbing people to take their powers. With such a vast arsenal of skills, most of them probably won’t be inProject Multi, but with healing abilities, Buu will likely find himself as a support in the MOBA.
2Zamasu Is One Of The Main Villains From Dragon Ball Super
And Is The Only Confirmed Playable Character From Super
Zamasu is a reasonably recent entry to the immenseDragon Ballcast, and is one of the major villains ofSuper. Technically, there are three Zamasu, one in the current timeline, one from the future who wished for immortality, and another that possesses Goku’s body, becoming Goku Black.Although the version inProject: Multiisn’t Goku Black, there’s no telling whether it’s the present or future variant. The future variant’s immortality would make Zamasu a great tank, though.
Zamasu is a Supreme Kai apprentice, who was previously the North Kai of Universe 10. He has a disdain for mortals that leads to him attempting to destroy all life in the universe, putting him into conflict with Future Trunks. Of the confirmed playable characters,he is the only one that debuted inSuperand will likely help round out the villain side of the roster, considering that he is one of the few villains, alongside Cell and Dr Gero who doesn’t find themselves allying with the Z Fighters at some point.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero - Release Date, Characters, & Edition Differences
Over a decade since the last Budokai Tenkaichi game, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has finally received an official release date in 2024.
1Other Characters Who May Not Be Playable
Including Zeno, Kid Gohan And Others
Although there have only been eight playable characters confirmed thus far forProject: Multi, there are a few characters that appear as possible objectives, NPCs or could even be playable. Champa, Universe 6’s God of Destruction, can be seen sleeping while Goku and Buu are wailing on him, Zeno appears with a giant mallet, and Belmod, Universe 11’s God of Destruction, appears as a shattering UI element. Namek Saga Gohan appears in a cutscene, there is an Oozaru (great Ape) in the trailer too, and there seems to be the lower robe of an Angel, possible Vados.
The Gods of Destruction are all named after alcohol. For example, Beerus is named after beer, Champa is named after champagne, and Belmod (or Vermoud) is a pun on vermouth.
The cast ofDragon Ballis immense. This givesDragon Ball Project: Multia vast array of characters to call upon for its roster, and it is extremely unlikely that there will only be eight playable characters. MOBAs tend to have plenty of characters to choose from. Players only need to look atLeague of Legends, DOTA, Smite, andHeroes of the Stormas examples, and hopefully, this new MOBA will use as many characters fromDragon Ballas possible.
