The first look at Yelena, Bucky, and their teammates inThunderboltshas finally been provided by Marvel Studios' first official footage of the 2025 movie. While themovie and TV reveals of SDCC 2024offered insights intoThunderboltsand the other MCU movies on the horizon, the footage shown was exclusive to those in attendance. As such, thelist of upcoming MCU moviesand what they entail remained mostly in the dark for those awaiting news and updates from home. However, the first teases ofThunderbolts*exciting MCU storyhave finally been unveiled.
In a video posted onMarvel Entertainment’s YouTube channel, the first publically released footage ofThunderbolts*can be spotted. The snippet shows the titular team standing in an elevator, albeit with a few members missing.

The shot debuts several new looks for returning MCU characters that are part ofThunderbolts*cast, including Red Guardian’s new suit. Similarly, the new visual appearance of fan-favorite MCU characters like Bucky Barnes and Yelena Belova is offered, raising anticipation for the upcoming MCU movie ahead of its June 22, 2025, release date.
Who’s On Marvel’s Thunderbolts Team?
The Roster Consists Of Several Morally Gray MCU Characters
As alluded to, not every member ofThunderbolts*cast of characterswas visible in the first footage shown for the film. This begs the question of what the entire roster for the titular team looks like. Evidently, five of the members of the Thunderbolts are Red Guardian and Yelena Belova fromBlack Widow, Ghost fromAnt-Man and the Wasp, Bucky Barnes ofCaptain Americafame, and U.S. Agent, who debuted inThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The other two members of the team who are not shown in Marvel’s footage are interesting characters, to say the least. One is also fromBlack Widow, the MCU’s Taskmaster. Taskmaster received little depth inBlack Widow, making her appearance inThunderbolts*that much more intriguing. The final member of the Thunderbolts team is expected to be their leader, Valentina Allegra De Fontaine, a character who has appeared throughout the MCU’s Phases 4 and 5.
To make Val’s role in the film even more compelling, she is a character whose motivations are still unclear in the MCU.She has been a somewhat threatening, manipulative character who held no allegiances before being revealed as the director of the CIAinBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever. This means thatThunderbolts*will be more vital than anything in the MCU’s history to fleshing out her mysterious goals in the franchise, only this time she will be surrounded by returning characters as her morally questionable teammates.
