With just over a year still remaining until the movie’s arrival, a newFive Nights at Freddy’s 2poster is here and teasing another animatronic’s debut. Development on the sequel to Blumhouse’s has been ramping up speed in recent months, with Matthew Lillard recently confirming that original co-writer/director Emma Tammi will be back in the director’s chair and that filming is expected to begin near the end of October. Earlier in the year saw Blumhouse set a December 2025release date forFive Nights at Freddy’s 2, and while Josh Hutcherson is also confirmed to be returning, no other details have been shared as of now.

As part of the studio’s New York Comic Con panel,Blumhousehas unveiled the firstFive Nights at Freddy’s 2poster. The poster is a fairly straightforward image of the sequel’s June 22, 2025 release date with a large number 2 above it, thoughdoes show an animatronic poking its eye out from behind a curtain, with the design being that of Toy Freddy. More Versions Of Freddy May Be Coming

The seeming confirmation of Toy Freddy’s introduction inFive Nights at Freddy’s 2also comes shortly after Hutcherson teased that there were going to be more animatronics brought in for the sequel that would open the franchise’s world “in a big way”. Given the alternate Freddy was also introduced in the first sequel game,it does fit the overall model of following in the source material’s footsteps. However, considering the games find the titular pizza restaurant operational, Toy Freddy’s introduction also raises curiosity as to how the movie will expand the world.

9 New Animatronics Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 Can Introduce

Five Nights at Freddy’s promises a scarier viewing experience and new animatronics, opening the door for many characters from the games to appear.

Though the first movie saw the pizzeria as having been closed for some time, its prior success could indicate there were multiple locations, thus leading to the development of multiple kinds of Freddy. If the sequel does take this path,it would follow up on many of theEaster eggs set up inFive Nights at Freddy’s, namely The Puppet, who was teased in the prior movie’s mid-credits with a version of the sequel game’s song, “My Grandfather’s Clock”, playing, which was used to prevent him from attacking.

Our Take On Toy Freddy’s Arrival

The Animatronic Could Go A Long Way To Fixing The First Movie’s Major Issue

Beyond just expanding on the first movie’s Easter eggs, Toy Freddy’s arrival inFive Nights at Freddy’s 2gives me a lot of hopethat the sequel is looking to fix one of the original’s biggest complaints, which was its lack of effective jump scares compared to the games. In the 2014 sequel, Toy Freddy was a far more active threat than the original, and was designed to be larger than his companion. By introducing more animatronics like Toy Freddy, who are faster and depicted more horrifically than the first film,Five Nights at Freddy’s 2can properly put the movie franchise on the right track.
