In an attempt to capitalize onSuits' newfound success on streaming, series creator Aaron Korsh is expanding his legal drama franchise with a new show set in California.Suits LA’s main cast is composed of Stephen Amell,Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, and Bryan Greenberg as Ted Black, Stuart Lane, Erica Rollins, and Rick Dodsen, respectively. All of them are new characters, butNew York’s Best Closer will join them in a guest capacity.

While the initial report about Harvey’s return doesn’t reveal the details of his involvement, Macht’s caption in his social media post is telling. The actor implies thatHarvey appears inSuits LAbecause Ted needs help. This is backed up by Amell’s comment on the video, writing:“The Bat Signal does work!!“For context, there’s a theory that claims that lawyers have a secret history in New York. Harvey and Ted could have worked in the same government agencies before they both moved to a private firm. That claim is anything but confirmed now by Macht and Amell’s quotes.
Establishing ties between Ted and Harvey can be an effective way to draw people in to at least give Suits LA a try.
It’s a great idea to tie the characters together since it gives viewers extra incentive to check out the spinoff. Admittedly,Suits LA’s storyis risky, considering that it doesn’t involve anyone from the original show’s ensemble. That said, establishing ties between Ted and Harvey can be an effective way to draw people in to at least giveSuits LAa try. A three-episode arc may not be enough to satiate the need to see more of Macht in the role, but it gives the show enough time to sell itself to audiences who still are on the fence about it.

Sadly, nothing has been said if anyone else from theSuitscastwill also make an appearance in the spinoff. Considering the ending ofSuits, Mike, Donna, and Rachel are all good candidates to join Harvey down south to California since all of them are based in Seattle. Personally, I would want to seeHarvey and Mike collaborate on helping Ted. That said, as the source of the theory regarding Harvey and Ted’s secret connection in New York, I also understand if Korsh wants to focus Macht’s return on helping establishSuits LArather than leaning on nostalgia.
