Game of Thrones' Lyanna Stark actor Aisling Franciosi has addressed her potential return in a spinoff series focused on Robert’s Rebellion. Following the massive success of the ongoing prequel seriesHouse of the Dragon, multipleGame of Thronesspinoffshave gone into development, expanding on the world of Westeros beyond the original story. This includesA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is scheduled for release later this year, and an untitled show about Aegon’s Conquest that’s currently in development. However, other shows are also in development, which could see the light of day as the fantasy franchise expands.

Speaking withScreenRantabout her new comedy movie,Twinless, at Sundance Film Festival,Franciosi explained how she would be open to returning as Lyanna Starkin a futureGame of Thronesspinoff about Robert’s Rebellion. The actor, who portrayed Jon Snow’s (Kit Harrington) late mother, said she’d even return for a small part like her previous appearances, open to the idea of being part of the franchise again. Check out what Franciosi had to say below:

Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) in House of the Dragon with Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) in Game of Thrones

Absolutely. Yeah, I would if it came up. It was fun to be a part of something [so big], even if I was a tiny part. It was fun to be a part of something so massive; really good fun.

What Franciosi’s Statement Means For Lyanna’s Game Of Thrones Future

She Could Have A Major Role In A Prequel Series

Lyanna was a key figure during Robert’s Rebellion, as her secret marriage to Rhaegar Targaryen (Wilf Scolding) was a catalyst for a revolt between his family and Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy). Historically,Westeros believed she had been taken by the Targaryen prince by force, something Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) learned wasn’t true. He also learned that Jon was not, in fact, the bastard son of Ned Stark (Sean Bean), but rather the child of the betrothed pair. The truth aboutJon Snow’s parentsbecame a key factor in the show’s final seasons.

Every Upcoming Game Of Thrones Spinoff Is Ignoring House Stark (& There Are Multiple Ways To Fix It)

HBO has multiple Game of Thrones spinoffs in development, many about the Targaryens, so it’s very surprising there isn’t one about House Stark.

If Lyanna were to return, it would likely be in a possible spinoff series, either through flashbacks or, asHouse of the Dragonseason 2’s endingestablished, flash-forwards.A Robert’s Rebellion show would offer her a larger role than ever before, since she’d be a focal figure within the conflict, even if she was on the sidelines for most of it. SinceGame of Thronesspinoffs can take place seemingly at any point in the timeline, a show about the major revolt could be on the table in the future, even if it hasn’t been considered just yet.

Bran Stark Lyanna Wedding

Lyanna could have returned in flashbacks during a Jon Snow spinoff, which was in development at one point, but has since been shelved.

Our Take On Lyanna’s Possible Return In Game Of Thrones' Future Shows

It Would Be Interesting To See Her Get More Development

While there’s no guarantee Franciosi will come back as Lyanna in a future spinoff, her appearance in only a handful ofGame of Thronesepisodes leaves plenty of room for her development. This could include either a major role in a story about Robert’s Rebellion, or appearing in smaller sequences during other shows. Regardless of how she could appear, it would be intriguing to see her get more development, offering deeper context to her story in the larger, sprawling history of Westeros.
