Over the years,Genshin Impacthas continued to grow with each nation, but the exact size of Teyvat has largely remained a mystery.Genshin’s open world was an innovative change to the gacha genre that was a large part of its success. Of course, the other parts are the fun combat, cool characters, and interesting story that made it the gacha giant. Even though competition has come out in the past few years that makeGenshinfeel less unique, few if any have been able to copy the success.
As of now,Genshinhas six of its seven total nations that the player can explore. This does not include the various underground areas that helped fill in the gaps before each new nation’s release. The next nation to visit will be Snezhnaya, though some signs point to aspecific location that may push back the roadmap, the home of the Cryo Archon and Fatui. If rumors are to be believed, there is also a chance that players will visit the ruins of Khaenri’ah and the god-like landscape of Celestia before the game truly ends.

Fans Think They’ve Figured Out Teyvat’s Map Size
Doing The Math
Thanks to Reddit userFloorGang-R2, it has been discovered thatTeyvat is a little over 15km wide. They figured this out by having a quest to talk to Raiden Ei, who was located near the edge of Inazuma, and then traveled to the farthest point west in Natlan. After doing this, the distance they were away from Ei was 15,255 meters. However, it should be noted that this is a semi-misleading number, so it can’t really be marked as official.
The Logic Behind Finding Out How Big Genshin Impact Is
Striking The Balance For Convenience
The reason this number, while technically correct, cannot be the official size is due to the nature of it being a game. It would be impossible for most games to be a one-to-one scale of their ideal, especially whenGenshinis this big. Another aspect of this is that, while the game is played a lot on PC, it was meant to be a mobile game, sothe map being to scale would be a technical issue for phones and a storage issue.
Another aspect to keep in mind is the effort it would take for the developers to make a game that actually represented its intended scale. To make the game up to scale, similar toWorld of Warcraft, for example, would be a massive effort. While it would fit, as some ofthe major cities inGenshinare quite large in the lore but small in the game, it would take a toll. While the game certainly has the funding to accomplish this, for all the reasons listed and more, it was the wise choice to scale everything down.

Why Future Updates May Change Teyvat
A Foggy Future Of Potential
SinceGenshinstill has at least one more region, though likely more, the map is going to get bigger. Snezhnaya borders Natlan and Fontaine, so whileit may increase the map north/south, it likely won’t do anything east/west. What is known about Snezhnaya would lead one to believe it will be a very snowy and extremely mountainous region, meaning it will bring a level of verticality that might be completely new forGenshin.
The other aspects to keep in mind are what other areas join the map afterSnezhnaya’s predicated release date. If the rumors do end up being true, thenKhaenri’ah is underground, and Celestia is up in the sky. This would not change the width of the map, but the verticality of it would increase drastically. There is also a chance these areas are on the same level as the nations, but that is less likely due to their lore implications.

Overall, what happens toGenshin’s map is still up in the air, even with theconsistent thread of low-content seasons. Nothing is confirmed after Snezhnaya, meaning the game could simply end with a nice wrap-up. The alternative is that the hit gacha game still has a handful of regions to explore, and if that’s the case, the map will have plenty of room to grow. Regardless, asGenshin Impactstands with its six nations, Teyvat is, in theory, larger than its actual in-game representation.
