Blizzard is bringing back the original 6v6 matches toOverwatch 2, but some fans are a bit concerned about team compositions getting old very quickly. While the 6v6 mode has been highly requested for quite some time now, the reactions from fans to the classic feel ofOW2making a comeback is a mixed bag of emotions.

The originalOverwatchtitle sported 6v6 battles, but after a lot of complaints and issues with the team compositions, the developers decided to introduce 5v5 instead onceOverwatch 2launched.While this new arcade game mode is only available for three weeks, starting on November 12, some fans are hoping it sticks around as a permanent arcade mode. Other players are worried about the new mode, as Mery’s Mass Resurrection and teams filled with 5 Roadhogs could cause mass chaos.

TheClassic Arcade mode will bring backthe original 21Overwatchheroes, the 12 maps fans came to love – and hate – from the title, and the extremely chaotic gameplay with a total of 12 players battling it out head-to-head.

The Original Roster, Abilities, Maps & More Come Back To Overwatch

Mass Rez, Wild Team Comps, & 6v6 Are Back

Fans ofOverwatchwill be brought back to 2016, quite literally back to the 1.0 patch of the originalOverwatchtitle. One of the major differences, other than the number of players per match, is the character’s abilities. Character abilities were overhauled in their entirety inOverwatch 2, which for some fans was a good thing. Others were a bitdisappointed at the loss of their favorite Hero abilities, such as Torbjorn’s Armor Pack crafting or Mercy’s Mass Resurrection.

Overwatch 2 Is Failing Its Way Into Reinventing Overwatch 1

Overwatch 2 Season 10 brings a litany of changes and quality-of-life updates to the hero shooter, including changing the way players get new heroes.

Each of the old abilities will be back during the limited-time event, but the developers are saying that this is not meant to just be around for a “limited-time”. According toPCGamesN, Game director Aaron Keller states that the team is “not planning for this to be a single event.” This mode is meant to test the waters and get player feedback, all while ensuring the baseOverwatch 2title remains as is. Reddit userFloorRound7136reiterated what the developers stated, as they said,“They’re only doing 3 weeks to gauge how many people like it. Trust me, if this is a success they will definitely bring it back for good.”

Our Take: Is 6v6 and Classic OW2 A Step In The Right Direction?

The Idea Of The Old Abilities & Maps Coming Back Around For Good

The originalOverwatchwas easily one of my favorite titles in 2016, andthe abilities, maps, blood-boiling compositions, and difficulty level made the game was it was.As someone who missed the chaos and hectic combat that came with the original title, this new Classic Arcade mode is something I will play until the bitter end of the event. The sheer amount of rage quits, smack-talking, and ridiculous player abilities that made you question why you played the title in the first place was something I missed.

While some may disagree and think Mass Resurrection, Bastion being able to heal behind the scenes, and Hanzo pelting players with a scattershot wasn’t the best thing ever, other fans are as hopeful as I am that this “limited-time” Classic mode will be here to stay. This is most likely dependent on the players' reactions during the three-week time frame, but hopefully, since the developers aren’t changing the baseOverwatch 2game, we can have the best of both worlds for as long as possible.
