Her death shocked the comic book world in 1973’s TheAmazing Spider-Man #121,and for the longest time, she was believed to be one of the few comic book charactersto actually stay dead. At this point,it seems the only people who actually stay dead in Spider-man’s world are his parents and Uncle Ben.Death is a common motivator for many heroes and to continually see fan-favorite characters revived through plot armor cheapens the impact their death has on the story.
