Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episode 1-3!Invinciblestars Steven Yeun and Gillian Jacobs tease how Mark and Eve’s relationship will evolve in season 3 after a revelation from future Eve in season 2’s finale. Based on Robert Kirkman’s comic series, the animated show follows the story of Mark Grayson (Yeun), who lives in his superhero father’s shade until he develops powers. InInvincibleseason 2, episode 8, Mark is thrown into the multiverse and is saved by the future version of Eve and sent home, though knowing what he knows, he chooses not to tell his version of Eve how he feels.

While speaking toScreenRant, Yeun and Jacobs talk about Mark and Eve’s relationship inInvincibleseason 3. Jacobs points out how Eve was Mark’s introduction “into being a superhero,” and how Mark repays the favor by being there for her. The star stresses thatthey are at a similar place in “questioning how to best use their powers,“which creates a bond between them. However, in terms of where it leads, viewers will have to wait to find out more. Check out what she said below:

Well, I was just thinking about how Eve was sort of his introduction into being a superhero, in a way, absent his father and growing up with his father’s powers and everything. But being a peer, being of the same age and showing him a way to be that. And now, I feel like he’s sort of repaying the favor where she’s very uncertain and confused, and he’s reaching out to her — unless I’m misspeaking. But I think that they have a connection, like I was saying, that they’re both kind of questioning how to best use their powers, so I think that bonds the two of them, and where that leads them, the viewers will have to watch and see.

Yeun echoes Jacobs' sentiment of keeping it spoiler-free, but he points out how Mark can be inconsiderate of what he says might make others feel sometimes. While Yeun doesn’t necessarily enjoy this quality of Mark, he considers him"very lucky” to have someone “very understanding"by his side. Check out what he said below:

Yeah, without giving spoilers, there’s that aspect to it, for sure. For me, I’m a little bit more judgmental on Mark, and when I think about [him], he just kind of talks and maybe doesn’t really consider all the consequences of just talking. Whatever’s in his head, he just spills out. He’s very lucky that he has a very understanding person in front of him, receiving his gobbledygook.

What Their Comments Mean For Mark And Eve In Invincible Season 3

They Deserve To Be Together

Both Yeun and Jacobs' comments highlightthe bond between Mark and Eve. Mark has just broken up with Amber in season 2, episode 7, which makes episode 8 the worst timing to confess his feelings to Eve. However, theInvincibleseason 2 finale also made it clear that Mark reciprocates Eve’s feelings, hinting at a potential relationship on the horizon. This becomes a reality inthe opening episodes ofInvincibleseason 3when Mark finally finds the courage to ask Eve out.

What Happens To The Guardians Of The Globe After Breaking Up In Invincible Season 3 (Do They Get Back Together?)

The Guardians of the Galaxy go through a pretty bad split in Invincible season 3, setting up two competing superhero teams that could reunite.

So far, the animated series has been mostly faithful to its source material. In the comics,Mark and Eve’s relationship is only just the beginning, as their dating eventually leads to the two of them getting married. In the comics, Yeun and Jacobs' comments also tease the potential personal demons that the two have to overcome. WithInvincibleseason 2 teasing the Conquest’s storyline, season 3 might see the two work through their shared trauma.

Our Take On Mark And Eve’s Relationship In Invincible Season 3

Their Relationship Is Only Just The Beginning

Unlike Amber, who struggled to understand Mark’s superhero side, Eve can truly be there for Mark. Even though the first two seasons have seen them apart and being with other people,Invincibleseason 3 is worth the wait.Eve is clearly the right person for Mark, and the two being together offers a great dramatic relief in the story, but it doesn’t mean that the hardest part is over, but instead may just be the beginning.

There’s no promise that their relationship will stay intact in future episodes and seasons. Menacing villains and their respective chaotic lives may throw some curveballs into their relationship.Mark’s blue suit inInvincibleseason 3also points toa dark story arc ahead. The two will have to work through some problems to stay together, but given that Eve is an important part of Mark’s story, even if they break up, they’ll likely find their way back to each other.
