Rachel Is Not a Blood Relative Of Katie, Christina, Or Vincent

As revealed inHis Three Daughters, Rachel is not a direct blood relative of her sisters Katie and Christina, or even their father, Vincent. Rachel had a father who died when she was just 4 years old that she never knew. As Vincent reflects in his end-of-life monologue at the end ofHis Three Daughters, it was probably for the best that Rachel never met her biological father because he was “a real jerk”, just like Vincent’s dad.Vincent met Rachel’s mom after his wife, who was Katie and Christina’s mother, passed away.

His Three Daughters Review: Carrie Coon & Natasha Lyonne Emotionally Punch Each Other In Moving Drama

It’s staged like a play. There’s nowhere to go as the characters are forced to face each other, but that’s also what makes it so poignant and lovely.

In short,Vincent and Rachel’s mom were both widows when they met each other and fell in love. Rachel was at least 5 years old when this happened and it was in her early childhood years when she met Vincent, who became her Dad even though he was not her biological father. When Rachel eventually lost her mother, both of her biological parents were technically dead, although Vincent, who she considered to be her real father, had always been there for her, not only raising her “like” his own but as his own as he points out in the film.

What Happened To Katie & Christina’s Mom In His Three Daughters

She died when Christina was still a kid and Katie was likely a preteen

Christina realizes during His Three Daughters that she and Katie do share something else in common with Rachel besides their father: they had all lost their mothers as well.Vincent’s wife died when Christina was young, likely around the age of 5 or 6. Katie, who is roughly 5-7 years older than her biological sister, remembers her mother’s death more than Christina does due to their age difference, yet Vincent makes a point during his final speech to apologize to Christina for not being more available to help her cope with her mother’s loss. Ultimately, several key deaths brought Katie, Rachel, and Christina closer together inHis Three Daughters.
