Monster Hunter Wildshas announced an open beta, coming to multiple platforms in fall 2024.Wildsis the latest game in thelong-runningMonster Hunterseries, in which players create characters and send them out on a series of monster-battling missions. They can either defeat or capture massive, otherworldly creatures, bringing them back to base for research that’ll aid them in increasingly different hunts. Known for its often challenging real-time combat and thrilling co-op battles,Monster Hunteris a trailblazer in the action RPG genre.

Hot on the heels ofthe highly successful release ofMonster Hunter Rise, which madeMonster Huntermore accessible with new platforms and streamlined gameplay, comesMonster Hunter Wilds, due out in February 2025. Set in a desolate region known only as the Forbidden Lands,Monster Hunter Wildsincludes the same distinctive weapons that have always madeMonster Huntera delight, with new moves, maps, and monsters to evolve and deepen the experience. Although the full release is still a few months away,players can participate in an open beta this October. Here’s how to get involved.

How To Join Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta

Requirements & Registration

TheMonster Hunter Wildsbeta is available to all players on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S; as an open beta, no invitations or lotteries are required to get in. Everyone will be able to join the beta by the end of the early access period, but launch dates and times depend on the player’s preferred platform. The following table includes the start and end dates for the open beta, depending on platform.

Capcom is making Monster Hunter more accessible than ever as it prepares fans for the release of Monster Hunter Wilds with this sale.

What’s Included In The Monster Hunter Wilds Beta

Character Creation, Two Missions, & More

The open beta forMonster Hunter Wildsincludes a sneak peek at three different slices of gameplay: the character creation, the story, and the combat. First,players will be permitted to design their characters and their Palico companions. Players can also redesign their characters as much as they would like during the open beta period, so they’re not locked to their initial appearance.

Monster Hunter Wilds Brings Highly Requested Features Like Crossplay & More

Crossplay is just one of the quality-of-life improvements being introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds, but don’t expect to find new weapons.

Immediately afterward,the player will be thrust directly intoMonster Hunter Wilds' story, viewing the opening cutscenes and participating in a tutorial hunt. This will pit them against a Chatacabra, an amphibian creature immediately recognizable by its enormous tongue. During the fight, they’ll be able to experiment with the game’s controls and basic combat mechanics as they learn the ropes.

Finally,players will be turned loose in an open map during an Alpha Doshaguma hunt. They’ll be able to explore the area on their Seikret mount as they track, hunt, and defeat the intimidating leonine Doshaguma. They’ll also be able to switch between two different weapons at will during this mission, but it’s unclear whether they’ll select them for themselves, or be limited to a set pair.

What Carries Over Into The Full Game

Character Creation & An Exclusive Pendant

Unfortunately,progress from the open beta won’t carry over directly into the full game at launch. However,players will be able to transfer their created charactersand Palicosoverif they’re playing on the same account with which they played the open beta.

Crossplay will be available during the open beta.

Those who participate in the beta will also receive a unique cosmetic, a Felyne pendant, at launch (pictured above). In addition, they can claim a bonus item pack containing ten Mega Potions, five Rations, five Lifepowder, two Max Potions, two Herbal Medicines, two Nulberries, and five Armor Spheres.
