Being forced to fight his own son is one of the worst things Superman could experience, as a father and a hero.

Jon Kent is Superman’s first son, and despite howpowerful and how good Superman is, there’s a lot of trauma between them. Superman and Lois, for reasons unknown to everyone, allowed Jon Kent to go off into space with Jor-El. This would be a disastrous mistake as Jon ended up trapped on Earth-3, where he was beaten and tortured by Ultraman. When Jon finally came back, he was several years older, and this trauma still haunts both Clark and Jon. Clark feels that he failed as a father, as he wasn’t able to protect Jon from this horrific event.

After all these years, Amanda Waller finally pushed Superman past his limit, and now the “nice guy” mask the Man of Steel has long worn is finally coming off.
