I thinkMarried at First Sightseason 19 will be the best season yet, as I’ve noticed production has listened to viewer feedback, which makes me excited about the upcoming changes.Married at First Sightseason 18ended last month after running the finale, a two-part reunion, and a “Where Are They Now?” episode. The panel of threeMarried at First Sightexperts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Cal Roberson, and Dr. Pia Holec were the therapists tasked with the matchmaking and guiding the couples through the eight-week-long experiment. The three have been working together sinceMAFSseason 15.
I took issue with several things going on inMAFSseason 18, including the cheating scandal and couples swap, which I feel should never have happened. The quick engagement of Emem Obotbefore her divorce from Ikechi Ojoré also rubbed me the wrong way, as it added yet another layer of discredit to show’s intended process. Moreover, I’ve seen a decline through social media platforms in fan reception and engagement with the season, as they were all as flabbergasted as I have been. In any case, I’m excited to see news break about season 19, and all the changes coming.

Married At First Sight’s Credibility Has Taken A Dive
Season After Season Of Failures & Scandals
WhileMAFSseason 18 has particularly struck me as problematic forthe franchise’s inability to produce successful matches and honor the format of the show, I think all the other recent seasons have had the same pitfalls. In season 18, only one couple, Camille Parsons and Thomas McDonald have stayed married. In season 17 in Denver, not only did no one stay together but the group also became the most contentious between each other in the show’s history. One couple is still together fromMAFSseason 16 in Nashville: Nicole Lillenthal and Christopher Thielk.
No couples are together from season 15 in San Diego, and only one couple is together from season 14 in Boston, Olajuwon Dickerson and Katina Goode, although they’ve been on and off for years. Outside of just the couples having a massive failure rate, it’s troubled me to see that so many of the couples have ended the experiment prematurely. Orion Martzloff and Lauren Goodger from season 17 ended upon returning from their honeymoon, as did season 16’s Domynique Kloss and Mackinley Gilbert.

What’s more, the recent seasons have been plagued by scandal.David Trimble and Madison Myersfrom season 18 carried on an affair and ditched their original spouses to pursue each other without remorse. In season 17, the cast carried out a group dupe to get more positive edits, and it backfired. Due to all these aforementioned pitfalls and shortcomings the experts and what production has allowed, I believeMAFShas been discredited because it can’t produce viable matches each season, which is far from what the show is trying to accomplish.
MAFS Season 19 Will Have Older Couples
Following Recent Reality TV Trends
I do see that the issues plaguing the show are being addressed by production, however. Recently, the first news of theMarried at First Sightseason 19 cast was announced byMAFSspoiler and fan account@mafsfan. They revealed thatseason 19 will include two sets of couples that are of a more mature age. One pair, Belynda and Chad, are in their late forties/early fifties, and the other couples, Rhonda and Patric, are in their late fifties/early sixties.
I have witnessed immaturity among the cast being a prevailing reason why the couples don’t work out. I’ve seen that manifest in cast who weren’t ready for marriage, lacked emotional intelligence, or were on the show for clout. However, to play devil’s advocate, I realize that just because the participants are older doesn’t necessarily mean they will have less drama.

But I feel that having cast with more life experience can only be helpful, as there could be more respect for the process and less room for the immaturity seen in younger cast members over the years.
MAFS Season 19 Will Have A Mother-Daughter Duo
An Interesting Twist
Another green flag for me coming withMAFSseason 19 is the first-ever introduction of a mother-daughter duo taking the leaps of faith to marry strangers. Not only will their journeys be tied together and interesting to watch, but it’sa fresh dynamic that I think could work well on the show. The mother and daughter could motivate each other throughout the experiment, and breathe a new narrative into the show that I see as being compelling to watch.
I understand the mother-daughter element is an entirely new concept on top of the introduction of older participants, but I seeI think it’s a wholly positive upgrade to casting. After years of failure showcasing couples in their twenties and thirties with little involvement of the families, this new twist gives me hope for a more enticing season. I think it will be interesting to see how the mother-daughter duo stack up against the other couples who don’t also have a horse in the race.
MAFS Has Been Casting New Experts
It’s Long Overdue
Along with the cast announcement from @mafsfan, they also relayed that a casting call was ongoing for new experts.MAFSviewers know what to expect from Dr. Pepper, Pastor Cal, and Dr. Pia, who have demonstrated their range, or lack thereof, of ability in their field. I also believetheir matchmaking and counseling has proven to be poorall the way around.
Casting new experts is a huge step in the right direction forMAFSto me, because new perspectives will be helpful to the show and the couples, and getting to know new authority figures, I think, will surely be enticing. While the timing of the arrival of new experts is currently unknown, it’s not out of the question to count them out for season 19.
I see overhauling the experts as breathing back potential credit to the franchise.

Peacock Is A Reality TV Powerhouse
The final big change coming withMarried at First Sightseason 19, is that it will be on Peacock, a massively renowned reality TV powerhouse. The franchise has been a Lifetime Network staple for the past 18 seasons, andPeacock taking over could mean some production quality changes and potential hiatus shortening. Between the new casting decisions and the network change, I’m certainMarried at First Sightseason 19 will be the best yet, and I’m here for it.
