Agatha All Alongintroduced two of theMCU’s best new characters only to kill them off within a matter of weeks, and quite frankly, I think it’s tragic. Despite comprising a cast of lesser-known characters, these new MCU additions have securedAgatha All Alongas a swift fan favorite. Moreover, it introduced two new high-ranking players to theMCU’s list of most powerful charactersin the form of the chaos-magic-wielding Wiccan andthe personification of Death herself.

The show also helped to humanize the titular villain-turned-antihero, though Agatha still retains a measure of her trademark nefariousness inAgatha All Along’s finale. Although Agatha is now technically dead, I’m seriously hopeful that Kathryn Hahn will return to the MCU in a significant role now that her ghost seems to have teamed up with Billy Maximoff as they were last seen embarking on a quest to find Tommy. I’m less hopeful, however, about two other characters who were taken from us almost as soon as they were introduced despite the lasting impression they immediately made.

Alice and Lilia in Agatha All Along Episode 3

The MCU Killed Off Lilia & Alice In Agatha All Along Only Weeks After Their Introductions

Alice And Lilia Survived Three And Five Weeks, Respectively

Lilia Calderu and Alice Wu-Gulliver were introduced inAgatha All Alongepisode 2 as Agatha and Billy started forming their coven to travel the Witches' Road.Their quirks and strong characterization were enough to make good first impressions, with their appeal only strengthening in subsequent episodes. Lilia, in particular, is now the star of one ofthe best TV episodes the MCU has ever releasedwithAgatha All Alongepisode 7.

Agatha asserted that she couldn’t control draining Alice’s powers, though whether she was being truthful remains a mystery.

Alice was then killed just three weeks later inAgatha All Alongepisode 5 when her attempt to save Agatha was repaid by having her powers and life force drained. Lilia made a similar sacrifice two episodes later, urging the remaining coven of three to continue and complete the road while she remained behind to decimate the Salem Seven with a shrewd Hail Mary in the Divination Trial’s tower. The fact that both were killed in the throes of doing something virtuous packs an extra stingafter making such an impact in their short-lived arcs.

Lilia & Alice’s Deaths Made Sense For The Show, But Were A Shame

Lilia And Alice’s Deaths Were Meaningful If Regrettable

Generalapproval for both Alice and Lilia was arguably at its peak in the moments before their deaths. Alice Wu-Gulliver was getting closer to Billy, showing kindness where her initial scenes portrayed her as standoffish. This was further exemplified by her attempts to rescue Agatha despite Agatha’s general antagonism towards the coven at that point. Lilia, meanwhile, stole the show inAgatha All Alongepisode 7and finally got to grips with her incredible divination powers before recognizing that her death was tied to her clarity.

Every Death In Agatha All Along, Ranked

Now that Agatha All Along has come to an end, it’s a good time to take stock of the many deaths the series has featured, some being more impactful.

As Rio Vidal pointed out when ferrying Alice into the afterlife, she was a protection witch who died protecting someone. Lilia’s divination, meanwhile, was integral to clearing her trial, and may not have been so clear were it not for her proximity to death. With that in mind,I’ll admit that their deaths made sense in the context of the show- but I’ll always lament not being able to see them again in the MCU short of some particularly special circumstances.

The MCU Could Still Bring Back Lilia & Alice, But It Seems Very Unlikely

Death Is Not Always Permanent In The MCU - But It Might Be For These Two

Death in the MCU, as with Marvel Comics, is not always permanent.Agatha All Alongitself proved this, as the ostensibly dead Billy and Tommy Maximoff have now found new bodies to continue living. This seems to have been made possible throughBilly’s incredibly powerful chaos magic, which he used to “revive” Tommy inAgatha All Alongepisode 8.It stands to reason that he may wish to do the same, albeit via different means, with Alice and Liliaafter feeling guilt about their deaths in the wake of the reveal that the Witches' Road was entirely his creation.

Not only is the MCU already stacked with new and far more prominent characters that Marvel may be reluctant to pad out, but their deaths were meaningful.

Unfortunately for the prospective futures of these two characters, however, their revival remains unlikely. Not only is the MCU already stacked with new and far more prominent characters that Marvel may be reluctant to pad out, but their deaths were meaningful. Aside from their sacrifices, they were integral to the central motif of death and its importance in the cycle of life inAgatha All Along. Though I’m not suggesting they measure up, bringing them back to life would be tantamount to doing the same with Earth-616’s Tony Stark, negating the impact and importance of their sacrifices.
