WhenDaredevilconcluded in 2018, after the show’s cancelation was announced, the finale left a lingering mystery that got under myself and many other fans' skin, butDaredevil: Born Again’strailer hints at the outcome. Daredevil was a groundbreaking series for Marvel that launched on Netflix in 2015. At that point, theMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)was well under way, and the secondAvengersmovie was just around the corner.

The show was intense, action-packed, and the casting forcharacters like Matt Murdockand WIlson Fisk was unparalleled. However, when the show was canceled in 2018, it really soured the third season experience for me. Watching as Daredevil fights an all-time great villain like Benjamin Poindexter, aka Bullseye, was just less meaningful, since the show couldn’t properly conclude its story. However, withDaredevil: Born Againincreasingly appearing to follow on from the events of the original series, I’m looking back at Daredevil in a whole new light.

Daredevil Season 3 Left Bullseye With A Broken Back

Bullseye’s Future Was Hanging In The Balance In Daredevil

Daredevilseason 3 saw Poindexter recruited by Fisk to impersonate Daredevil and ruin the vigilante’s reputation. However, Poindexter was no pushover. As an army vet, and an ex-FBI agent, he was a tough and resilient individual who believed in doing the right thing. Despite this, Fisk manipulated him and forced him to do his bidding, which made Poindexter increasingly frustrated. At one point,Poindexter makes a threat on Fisk’s beloved Vanessa, in an effort to push him back and free himself from Fisk’s control, but Fisk lashes out brutally.

How many seasons could Daredevil: Born Again have?

While most Marvel Studios series have only had one season, that is about to change. Marvel has made internal changes to its TV development, and the studio is now looking at more multi-season shows, with Daredevil: Born Again being one of them. With season 1 releasing in March, season 2 is already set to film throughout the year. Based on how successful Netflix’s Daredevil was and Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock continues to be, I could easily see Born Again running for 5–7 seasons while the character jumps from the show to other projects and back for the next decade.

With the full force of his violent rage, Fisk picked Poindexter up like he was nothing, and charged him into a wall. This resulted in Poindexter’s spine snapping, causing the man to become paralyzed and unable to move any part of his body due to that irreversible damage. But of course,Poindexter was supposed to return later as the fully fledged villain, Bullseye, which was teased in theDaredevilseason 3 finale, only to become a lingering cliffhanger with seemingly no solution.

The Daredevil: Born Again Trailer May Have Revealed What Happened To Bullseye

Benjamin Poindexter’s Fate Has Been Confirmed

Fortunately, the incredibleDaredevil: Born Againtrailer unpacks a lot about what to expect from the new series, and includes several returning faces from the original run, including Poindexter. And interestingly,Poindexter is up and walking with no apparent aids. This would indicate that the experimental surgery that Poindexter underwent was successful, and he has now had his spine repaired with the aid of rare and powerful metals. But it does a lot more than simply reveal his survival, which was always likely to be the case.

It also reveals that Poindexter is in prison, and he is seen walking with a large scar on his right cheek, which indicates he has recently gotten into a brawl, but clearly came away with very little damage. All of this considered, it certainly appears thatBullseye is joining the narrative inDaredevil: Born Again, and with his allegiance to Kingpin severed, he willprove an incredibly potent threat to both the new Mayor, and Matt Murdock in the first outing of these characters together in more than 6 years.

Bullseye’s MCU Origin Could Connect To Another 2025 Marvel Release

The MCU Connections Run Deep For Daredevil: Born Again’s Story

But expanding on this idea further, the reality of Poindexter being mobile again after such an intense injury appears to require a deeper explanation, and thanks to the new setting in the MCU, it could prove to have even bigger connections. For instance, beforeDaredevil: Born Againairs in March,Captain America: Brave New Worldwill hit theaters in February, and thatfilm is set to introduce a powerful metal, known as Adamantium to the MCU. This comes as a result of the Celestial Tiamut, who appeared inEternals, being made from this rare and powerful material.

Daredevil: Born Again’s Kingpin Makes A Massive Leap From His Last MCU Appearance & Marvel Needs To Explain It

The first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again teased a new role for Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, but Marvel needs to explain how he got there.

While Adamantium is always linked toMarvel heroes like Wolverine, a lesser known instance of the metal’s use is in connection to the Daredevil villain, Bullseye. Bullseye often has his spine, and occasionally other parts of his body fused with Adamantium in the comics, which further enhances his durability and fighting power. At the end of Daredevil season 3, Poindexter was set to have Cogmium used in order to fix him, but now that he arrives at this opportunistic point in the MCU, he could get an upgrade that makes him a much greater threat to Kingpin inDaredevil: Born Again.
