Malcolm in the Middle’s Bryan Cranston has revealed how the upcoming revival show came to fruition and teases the different character dynamics. Cranston enjoyed his breakout role as henpecked father Hal in the hit Fox sitcom, which aired from 2000 to 2006 before he went on to further success with thelead role inBreaking Bad. The show follows the day-to-day life of a dysfunctional working-class family of all boys and proved to be a highly influential series. In December 2024,it was revealed that Disney was developing a revival.

In a red-carpet interview withVariety, Cranston discussed how the revival show came about and how the character dynamics could be different this time around. He mentioned thathe had been the one pushing creator Linwood Boomer to revive the series, stating “I was the one poking the bear, going ‘let’s do it, let’s do it, let’s do it’.” He revealed that Boomer eventually envisioned some “really fun, terrific ideas” and decided to revive the show.
