The world ofBeetlejuiceis packed with colorful and interesting characters, but there’s one who was introduced inBeetlejuice Beetlejuicewho would make for an amazing spinoff that I would totally watch. Tim Burton surprised its audience with a sequel to his 1988 hitBeetlejuice, over thirty years after the first movie’s release. Appropriately titledBeetlejuice Beetlejuice, the movie reunites viewers with Lydia (Winona Ryder) and Delia Deetz (Catherine O’Hara), who return to Winter River with Lydia’s partner, Rory (Justin Theroux), and her estranged daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega), afterCharles Deetz’s death.
Back in Winter River, Astrid is tricked and taken into the Neitherworld, so Lydia has no choice but to summon Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) for help. The bio-exorcist agrees to help her, but at a big price, while also hiding from his vengeful ex-wife, Delores (Monica Bellucci). In addition to the surviving Deetzes,Beetlejuice Beetlejuiceintroduces new characters (both alive and dead), among them Wolf Jackson (Willem Dafoe) – and that’s oneBeetlejuicecharacter I would love to see a spinoff of.

Wolf Jackson Has Potential
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s story takes place both in the land of the living and the Neitherworld, this thanks to its main plot points: Lydia’s relationship with Astrid, Astrid being tricked by Jeremy (Arthur Conti), and Delores wanting revenge against Beetlejuice for killing her (after she poisoned him, which led to his death). Delores’ revenge mission raises concerns in the Neitherworld and so detective Wolf Jackson takes the case.Wolf Jackson was a B-movie action star in life, and now in his afterlife, he continues to act like one, with exaggerated moves and acting as if he were in an action crime movie.
In the Neitherworld, Jackson became the head of the Afterlife Crimes Unit, and he has solved many crimes. InBeetlejuice Beetlejuice, he’s tasked with finding and capturing Delores, and he later goes after Beetlejuice as well when he brings Lydia into the Neitherworld to rescue Astrid. Nearthe end ofBeetlejuice Beetlejuice, Jackson and his police officers arrive at the church where Beetlejuice is about to marry Lydia, and they are all frozen by Beetlejuice so he can carry on with his“MacArthur Park” musical number.
I would have loved to see more of Dafoe’s Wolf Jackson inBeetlejuice Beetlejuiceand even learn more about his backstory.
Wolf Jackson doesn’t have much screen time inBeetlejuice Beetlejuice, but every time he was on screen, he was a scene-stealer. Jackson is fun and funny, with his B-movie action-star attitude and moves making him extra-entertaining to watch. I would have loved to see more of Dafoe’s Wolf Jackson inBeetlejuice Beetlejuiceand even learn more about his backstory, but there’s one way this could happen: with a spinoff.

The world ofBeetlejuiceis rich and fun enough to expand in different ways – look no further than to the animated TV series that ran from 1989 to 1991, but its best option now is definitely a spinoff set in the Neitherworld.The afterlife inBeetlejuiceis unlike any traditional idea of life after death, as it’s mostly a building where lots of paperwork is done and where the deceased go through long processes to either work there or ride the Soul Train to the Great Beyond.
Michael Keaton & Winona Ryder’s Beetlejuice 2 Story Pays Off Tim Burton’s 35-Year-Old Horror Spinoff Show
Beetlejuice 2 will feature a new character dynamic for Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder which could potentially mirror another Tim Burton project.
Beetlejuiceshowed the waiting room and other offices in the Neitherworld, but the sequel showed that the afterlife also has its own police unit. ABeetlejuicespinoff could focus on the Neitherworld and all the fun and curious things that happen there, such as the many people who arrive in the waiting room in truly bizarre ways (such as half-eaten by a shark, with a fork stuck in their throats, etc), and the many other services in the Neitherworld – and the perfect lead character for this would be Wolf Jackson.
If there’s a police unit in the Neitherworld and a detective like Wolf Jackson it’s because the afterlife has seen enough crimes, disappearances, and bizarre stuff. While aBeetlejuicespinoff TV show could follow an anthology format and focus on different characters – either recently deceased or those working in the Neitherworld –, I feel the best way to go is having Wolf Jackson as the main character. The way I see this spinoff is havingJackson investigating a new case in the Neitherworld every episode or season, and there really aren’t many limits when it comes to how bizarre, funny, and spooky these can be.
A Wolf Jackson-ledBeetlejuicespinoff can also explore more of his backstory, both when he was alive and when he arrived at the afterlife and became a detective. A thirdBeetlejuicemovie seems unlikely, but this world still has a lot to offer, and if there was a Wolf Jackson spinoff, I would absolutely be interested in it.
