Two Years Pass Between The Main Events Of The Movies
Although it is still unknown exactly which members of theInside Outcastwill be returning forDream Productions, it seems imperative that Riley be front and center in the show, even if the core emotions from the movies are not on hand. While her life between the events of the two movies has not been explored deeply,there are some key moments that have been revealedthat are likely to have major play in the storyline of the spinoff, presumably as her dreams help her process her life.
Whiletwo years passed between the main events of the first two movies, theInside Outendingfeatured an epilogue a year later that followed Riley at 12 years old, beginning to make friends and returning to her love of hockey. The beginning of the sequel sees her having fully embraced hockey and looking to join a team in high school alongside her best friends Bree (Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green) and Grace (Grace Lu), who she seems to have met after the events of the epilogue. Because of this, those two characters will likely be central figures in the spinoff show.
The main Riley storyline ofInside Out 2saw Riley struggling with her feelings about Bree and Grace going to a different high school and her anxiety about being separated from them.
