Warning! This article contains minor spoilers for Invincible season 3.
Invincibleseason 3 includes Mark training Oliver in the ways of a superhero, with the three-episode premiere raising the question of whether the titular hero’s young brother is already stronger than he is. Oliver is primed to play a big part inInvincibleseason 3’s storyas a wannabe superhero whom Mark has to teach the rules of right and wrong. As the son of Omni-Man, the fears that Oliver could become like his father after heading to Earth inInvincibleseason 2’s endingare warranted.
As such,Invincibleseason 3 spends a lot of time with Mark and Oliver as the latter learns what it means to be a superhero. As Oliver comes face-to-face with several ofInvincibleseason 3’s villains, he begins to grow in strength, speed, agility, and durability, just like his brother did before him. AsnewInvinciblecharacters are introducedvia Oliver’s hero journey, one of the more pressing questions is just how strong the so-called “Kid Omni-Man” could become, with some even questioning if he is stronger than Invincible already.

Invincible Season 3 Drops Clues That Oliver Is Already Stronger Than Mark
Oliver’s Powers Are No Joke
Firstly, it is worth exploring the ways thatInvincibleseason 3’s first three episodestease that Oliver is stronger than Mark. For one, Oliver’s powers manifest at a much younger age than they did for Mark. Mark did not come into his own as Invincible until he was 16, yet Oliver was only around a year old when his powers began showing themselves. While this is admittedly due to his advanced aging as a half-Thraxan child, the quick rate of Oliver’s powers coming to fruition hints that he may be stronger than his brother, or at least, quicker to adapt.
The next hint that Oliver is stronger than Mark comes inInvincibleseason 3’s fight with the Mauler Twins. Mark is shown to have a relatively tough time against the recurring villains before having to fly away and stop their plan from being enacted. Oliver is left with the Maulers and quickly dispatches them after being initially overpowered. Oliver kills the two with ease, much like Omni-Man was shown to do to many people inInvincibleseason 1. Via these scenes, hints that Oliver’s strength outweighs Mark’s are found.

If He Hasn’t Already, Oliver Could Potentially Overtake Mark Soon
Oliver Is Maturing At A Fast Rate
All of this just proves that, if he has not done so already, Oliver could seemingly overtake Mark in terms of strength. A big portion ofInvincibleseason 3, episode 3 saw Mark explaining to Oliver that killing - as he did with the Mauler Twins - is wrong and is not what Invincible and his superhero allies do. Nonetheless, Oliver’s anger took over him in the moment and he defeated the Maulers with relative ease, proving just how powerful he can be in the heat of the moment.
If he is already as strong and fast as he is at such a young age, there is no telling how powerful Oliver could become…

This may indicate that Oliver already has Mark beaten where strength is concerned. If not, these teases are enough to indicate that Oliver could become much stronger than Mark in future seasons ofInvincible. If he is already as strong and fast as he is at such a young age, there is no telling how powerful Oliver could become later inInvincible’s story. Although this could worry the likes of Cecil, it could also mean another powerful ally in the battle against the ruthless Viltrumites of the galaxy.
Is Oliver Stronger Than Mark In The Invincible Comics?
The last major question about Oliver’s power level afterInvincibleseason 3’s three-episode premiere is whether he is stronger than Mark in the source material. As many familiar with the original comic books will know, Oliver does not match Invincible in terms of power. While Oliver’s fast aging and training under Mark allows him to adapt to getting his powers early very quickly, his half-Thraxan DNA also has its drawbacks. Unlike Mark, who is the almost-perfect mix between a Viltrumite and a human, Thraxan DNA makes Oliver slightly weaker than most Viltrumites.
Invincible Season 3 Review: I Couldn’t Be Happier With How Mark’s Hero Story Evolves In Confident & Fast-Paced New Episodes
After two stellar seasons, Invincible season 3 increases the moral and emotional complexity, enhancing Mark’s story and the viewer experience.
As a result, theInvinciblecomic books depict Oliver as staying inferior to Mark, Omni-Man, and other Viltrumite warriors throughout the series. Naturally, Oliver has his own individual strengths and will likely excel at them over Mark, whichInvincibleseason 3 and beyond are certain to exhibit. Regarding raw, pure strength, however, Oliver will likely continue remaining second fiddle to Mark. That said,Invinciblehas not been afraid to change the comic books where necessary, meaning Oliver could eventually grow to be even stronger than the titular character as the story goes on.
