Deadpool’s comic book co-creator thinks Josh Brolin’s Cable needs to return in multiple projects after being absent fromDeadpool & Wolverine. Brolin’s Cable was one of the main characters ofDeadpool 2. Before Disney bought Fox, an X-Force movie was in development, which would have once again seen Brolin’s Cable alongside Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, Zazie Beetz’s Domino, and more. However, theMarvel Cinematic Universehad other plans, with Brolin not being part ofDeadpool & Wolverine’s star-studded cast. Now, one of Deadpool’s creators wants to see Brolin return as Cable for the long haul.

On Twitter,Rob Liefeldcommented on how “it is a missed opportunity” not to have Josh Brolin back as Cable in the MCU.

According to Liefeld, Marvel should not only bring back the Cable actor, but have Brolin appear in multiple Cable/X-Force films. So far, Marvel Studios has yet to announce plans for aDeadpool & Wolverinesequelor potential spinoffs. However, based on the success of the film, which has become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time with over $1.3 billion worldwide and counting, there should be plenty of opportunities for Cable and Deadpool to meet again.

What Rob Liefeld’s Cable Comments Mean

With his Cable comments,Liefeld continues to hope that Marvel will touch on more of Deadpool’s mythosthan Fox and the MCU already have. Cable has so much potential based on his rich comic book history, and Marvel Studios has already shown that it understands what the character can bring to the table with Cable’s role in the acclaimedX-Men ‘97. Brolin’s Cable was one of the most talked about aspects ofDeadpool 2, and Liefeld sees the potential in focusing more on him going forward.

Deadpool May Never Top The 1 Avenger Who Has Outgrossed Him At The Box Office For A Simple Reason

Deadpool’s box office gains are greater than all of the MCU’s Avengers, save for one, and that Marvel hero should stay ahead due to a key reason.

Speaking withIGNin 2020, Liefeld talked about how he wants to see Deadpool everywhere, from video games to animation to more movies. The character’s comic book co-creator hoped that the demand for more Deadpool would be fulfilled, expanding the franchise, andDeadpool & Wolverine’s box office records make it more likely that Liefeld’s wishes will come true. Now that Deadpool is back on the big screen, Liefeld’s comments focus on who was missing, asBrolin wanted to appear as Cable inDeadpool & Wolverinebut was not asked to.

Our Take On The Possibility Of Josh Brolin’s Marvel Return As Cable

The MCU Has Plenty Of Space For Cable

After Marvel Studios’X-Men ‘97did right by Cable andDeadpool & Wolverineturned out to be a major success, I want to see Josh Brolin return as his Marvel mutant. In the past, Brolin talked about how playing Cable was harder than giving life to Thanos in the MCU. While that could have impacted his desire to return, Brolin’s recent comments about being sad that he was not inDeadpool & Wolverineshow that he is game to return. With the X-Men reboot looming, the MCU could use Brolin’s Cable in a few years, reuniting with Reynolds’ Deadpool.
