Chapter #266 ofJujutsu Kaisenis opaque, providing endless fodder for speculation and commentary. The violent chapter sees Yuji and Sukuna go all out, interspersed with dialogue between Yuji and Megumi’s soul, stuck inside the body currently inhabited by Sukuna. Among its most abstract hints, though, is the final panelwhich shows Sukuna’s finger suspended at the end of a deep chasm.
This simple panel is almost overloaded with subtext. The prevailing implication is that Yuta had earlier tricked Sukuna into believing that he had consumed the final of his cursed fingers. While on one hand, this means that Sukuna hasn’t actually achieved the full power promised by regaining all twenty of his fingers, it also leavesone crucial inroad to Sukuna’s defeat.
Yuta showed Sukuna that he could use his Cleave cursed technique, implying that he had Rika eat his last remaining finger to copy it, but that could have been a trick, and Rika ate Yuji’s finger instead (as he has Sukuna’s same cursed technique).
