Kelsey Grammer, along with showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, tease past characters and locations that could return in future seasons ofFrasier. A revival and sequel to the sitcom that ran originally from 1993 to 2004, which itself was a spinoff ofCheers, the Paramount+ series is set to return for its second season on September 19. InFrasierseason 2, Grammer’s titular character returns to his hometown of Seattle and reconnects with multiple characters at KACL, including Bulldog (Dan Butler), Gil Chesterton (Edward Hibbert), and Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris).
In an exclusive interview withScreen Rant,Grammer and showrunners shared who else they would like to see return in future seasons ofFrasier. The star shared an idea involving the Mulvihill Wine Cellar, while Cristalli and Harris expressed interest in revisiting characters fromCheersgiven Frasier’s return to Boston. Read their full comments below:

Kelsey Grammer: Yeah, we’ve targeted a couple. It’s probably not very wise for me to say them, but there’s a couple of really quirky ones, even. I could probably say this. I just thought of this yesterday. I was at a place in New Jersey called Crystal Springs, that very few people know is the connection for the character Kirby. Kirby was Jean Smart’s son on the show. And he dated a girl who Niles and Frasier thought might be the heiress to the Mulvihill Wine Cellar. The Mulvihill Wine Cellar actually exists at Crystal Springs, so I think I may take Christopher Lloyd and the writers to a dinner there and try to figure out a way to make the Mulvihill Wine Cellar a thing on the show. I don’t know. It’s just something that came in my head, which won’t destroy anybody’s ideas of what the show should be.
I called Chris when I was there, when I actually went there. I called Christopher Lloyd and I said, “Why is it we talked about the Mulvihill Wine Cellar?” Because it is one of the greatest wine cellars in the world. It’s unbelievable. It’s an amazing story. David Lloyd, his dad, used to write for Carson. It’s one hour outside of Manhattan. Chris said, “I think my dad went there.” It was special 50 years ago. It’s really special now. It’s an amazing place. They have everything you can imagine. Every wine from anywhere in the world. I’ve never seen a place like it. The next time you’re in New York, go on out and check it out.

Joe Cristalli: Yes. There’s several people that we would love, and honestly, it’s just finding the right story for some of these folks and making sure the schedules line up, but ideally, we’ll get everyone we want from the original and Cheers. There’s so many people we haven’t seen yet. I don’t even know if I could pick a favorite. There’s so many options.
Chris Harris: One area is that we haven’t yet taken advantage of the fact that Fraser is back in Boston, and that is where Cheers took place. So there’s a whole group of characters. Obviously, Bebe was part of that. Lilith, but we’d love for Frasier to run into somebody along the way at some point.
Frasier Characters & Locations That Could Return In Future Seasons
The Mulvihill Wine Cellar & Cheers
The idea that Grammer shared is for theFrasierreboot to visit the Mulvihill Wine Cellar. InFrasierseason 9, episode 9, “Finding Kirby,“Frasier and Niles compete for influence over the incompetent teenager Kirby(Brian Klugman), the son of Jean Smart’s character, when they learn that his girlfriend is the granddaughter of a famous wine collector who controls the legendary Mulvihill Wine Cellar. The cellar never actually appears in the original show, though Grammer’s idea is for the reboot to visit there, and perhaps bring back Kirby in the process.
10 Frasier & Cheers Characters We Most Want To Return In Season 2 Of The Reboot
The Frasier reboot had 2 notable guest stars from the original series. These are the other characters from Frasier and Cheers who should appear next.
The reboot’s showrunners, Cristalli and Harris, also tease the return of characters from the originalFrasierandCheers. With Frasier back in Boston, the reboot has already brought back characters such as Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth), Frasier’s ex-wife, thoughthe reboot still has yet to take full advantage of returning to Boston, as Harris says. Though the bar has closed, there are manyCheerscharacters who returned in the originalFrasier– including Sam (Ted Danson), Diane (Shelley Long), Carla (Rhea Perlman), Norm (George Wendt), Cliff (John Ratzenberger), and Woody (Woody Harrelson) – who could also return for the reboot.
Our Take On Frasier Characters & Locations Returning In Future Seasons
It Should Help The Reboot Remain Grounded In Nostalgia
Bringing back past characters and locations from bothFrasierandCheersin future seasons shouldhelp the reboot remain grounded in nostalgia. Revisiting characters from Seattle’s KACL, such as in season 2, the reboot should remain anchoredFrasier’s original roots, while returning to Boston and reintroducingCheerscharacters in future seasons should help tie back to its deeper history. This blend of old and new should create a rich continuity and delight fans with memories from both beloved series.
