Cooper Norris (Jacob Lofland) and Ariana’s (Paulina Chávez) relationship inLandmanwas always going to happen, but it should have waited until season 2 to start. Cooper and Ariana have been growing closer since her husband, Elvio Medina (Alejandro Akara) died along with several othercharacters inLandmanin the oil rig blowout. Initially, Ariana liked Cooper because he made her laugh for the first time since Elvio’s death, and Cooper began helping her around the house with mowing and figuring out her finances. By theend ofLandmanepisode 7, however, it had grown much deeper.

Cooper’s growing relationship with Ariana actually caused quite a few problems inLandman. InLandmanepisode 5, Cooper was attacked by some of Elvio’s friends, and they beat him so badly he was hospitalized. Ariana ended up visiting him in the hospital, which also gave her the chance to meet all of Cooper’s family members at the same time. Then, Cooper stayed at her house instead of his own, setting the stage for their relationship to get more serious. Ariana and Cooper’s relationship has been a whirlwind of big developments happening one after the other, and it should have gone slower.

Cooper & Ariana Kissed In Landman Episode 7

Cooper Stayed At Ariana’s After Leaving The Hospital & Slept In Her Bed

After quite a bit of buildup,Cooper and Ariana finally kissed inLandmanepisode 7. They had kissed before, but that was mostly Ariana’s way of insulting Manuel (J.R. Villareal), and their kiss in bed was the first that happened organically. Cooper, ever the gentleman, told Ariana to sleep in the bed instead of on the couch, and the two began cuddling in the night. When the morning came, they kissed before being interrupted by Rebecca (Kayla Wallace) and Nathan (Colm Feore). Even Rebecca remarked that Ariana moved on quickly after Elvio’s death, though she also isn’t known for her manners.

Why Cooper & Ariana’s Romance Should Have Waited Until Landman Season 2

Cooper & Ariana Are Both Still Grieving & Their Relationship Isn’t As Healthy As It Should Be

Even thoughLandmanhas slowly been building the romantic tension between Ariana and Cooper for several episodes, the show should have waited longer to bring it to fruition. The start of their relationship proves it.Cooper and Ariana only got to know each other because they both experienced massive trauma: Ariana losing a husband and Cooper witnessing three men die. They’ve had even more trouble since then, with Manuel’s attack and the pressure Ariana is getting from Rebecca to sign the settlement. Their entire relationship is built on loss and pain, and it just seems like they should have waited longer and healed more before dating.

Thanks to Rebecca and Nathan’s interruption, Cooper and Ariana can take a step back and process their grief more completely before they fall in love.

Cooper in Landman and Kayce and Monica in Yellowstone.

After all the drama and tragedy Ariana and Cooper have been through inLandman, their relationship deserves a slower burn. Currently, the two have just been managing one crisis after another, and they haven’t had a chance to get to know each other under normal circumstances.Cooper and Ariana could have become friends once they got to know each other better and then started a relationship once they realized they were both attracted to each other. In reality, they got together just a week or two after meeting, which was simply not enough time to make sure that their grief wasn’t the main source of attraction.

Landman Is Doing The Kayce & Monica Story Yellowstone Never Showed

Taylor Sheridan made one mistake regarding Kayce and Monica’s love story in Yellowstone, but he can redeem himself with another couple in Landman.

If Ariana and Cooper’s relationship is going to work, they shouldn’t start a full romantic relationship yet. Luckily,Landmanstill has a chance to turn the temperature down between them. Thanks to Rebecca and Nathan’s interruption, Cooper and Ariana can take a step back and process their grief more completely before they fall in love. That would set them up to have a much more stable and healthy relationship inLandmanseason 2. It would also be inLandman’s best interest to keep their relationship simmering, as many viewers will likely keep coming back to see Cooper and Ariana grow closer.
