What Happens At The End Of Mario & Luigi: Brothership
The Story Takes Some Electrifying Twists
Mario and Luigi often find themselves face to face with a trio known as the Extension Corps during the game. Working for the mysterious Zokket, they are spearheading the research and spread of Glohm across the islands. Zokket, meanwhile, keeps to himself and is rarely seen up until near the ending of the game. Even the Extension Corps don’t know what Zokket’s end goal is, butit is clear that Zokket is looking for a way to break bondsbetween any living soul and create a world of isolation.
Eventually, Mario and Luigi find their way to the flying Fortress Zokket, where they ultimately face off against a ferocious Glohm-infected Bowser. After defeating Bowser and helping him return to normal, the Fortress begins to emit a massive amount of Glohm in a large explosion. Escaping the flying Fortress as a large wave of pink energy explodes out of it,Mario, Luigi, and Snoutlet take a flying leap off into the ocean.

The Great Conductor Sees All, And Knows All
Plus Snoutlet’s Secret Identity Revealed
Miraculously surviving the dive into the ocean, Mario and Luigi are woken by Snoutlet on the beach of the island that Mario first appeared on when being sent out of the Mushroom Kingdom. A voice speaks to them in their head, but this voice is calming and welcoming. Here they meet the Great Conductor, who,in true RPG fashion, is essentially the legendary god of Concordia. It was he who brought Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom friends to Concordia to save the land, and he has been watching over them.
It is here thatSnoutlet is revealed to be the assistant of the Great Conductor, who was sent to help rebuild after the Uni-Tree was destroyed. The Great Conductor explains to Mario and Luigi that they were chosen by him because of the power of their bond. It was also the Great Conductor who gave Luigi the gift of Luigi Logic which helped them solve puzzles along the way.

Only the strongest bonds of connection, whether in the form of family, friends, or love, can withstand the evilthat is spreading across Concordia. To ensure they are up to the task of taking down the villains, the Great Conductor tests Mario and Luigi. Players are given a mixture of combat andmind puzzlesas they have to pick out the correct Mario or Luigi from choices of several, and then get a score of excellent on several of the unique Bros. Attacks.
Zokket’s Plan For World Isolation Is Overthrown
What Happened To Connie’s Mentor, Cozette?
Mario & Luigi: Brothership’s Great Conductor also reveals to Mario and Luigi thatZokket’s true identity is that of Connie’s beloved mentor and teacher, Cozette, who has fallen under some form of mind control.
After returning to Shipshape, the brothers discover that Fortress Zokket now has a massive barrier around it, but is at least in the ocean now rather than flying. Some more islands are discovered and linked to the ship while Shipshape is outfitted to get around the barrier.

Once Mario and Luigi are inside Fortress Zokket, they are briefly separated due to a trap from the Extension Corps, but then come together and finally fight the trio. This is the only fight in which the opponents also use Battle Plugs, which eventually causes them to explode after choosing one that perhaps they shouldn’t have.
Following that battle,Mario and Luigi are poised to face off against Zokketin an intense battle filled with Glohm powers. Once Zokket is defeated, their form transforms into what they originally were, revealing the badly injured form of Connie’s mentor, Cozette.

Reclusa, The True Villain Behind Everything Emerges
The Mysterious Egg Is Hatched
Defeating Zokket was hardly the end of the game, as the true villain of Concordia has yet to make their appearance. When Zokket/Cozette falls, the large Glohm-covered egg breaks open and Reclusa emerges. Reclusa is an evil creature whobelieves that solitude is the only way to have a happy existence. He plans to isolate everyone on Concordia inside their own, individual, virtual dreams where their mortal bodies will waste away and die without them ever being aware.
5 Best Mario Games of All-Time, Ranked
Mario has been a popular video game character since his appearance in Donkey Kong in 1981, which resulted in a long-running franchise for Nintendo.
Fortress Zokket is encircled by a large tree made of Glohm, called the Soli-Tree, whereReclusa is hidden and protected inside. Reclusa still appears to Mario and friends as a virtual avatar, however, taunting them with his goal of an isolated world.

Mario And Luigi Are Thrown Into An Imagined World
This Mushroom Kingdom Is Not Real
Shortly after breaking through the Soli-Tree’s defenses, Mario, Luigi, Snoutlet, and Connie come across an injured Cozette, who tried to fix her mistakes by facing off against Reclusa alone. Connie stays behind with Cozette, while the others enter the fortress. Suddenly, Mario and Luigi find themselves back in theMushroom Kingdom, with Peach and all of their friends there waiting for them.
All is not what it seems, though, and little issues begin to be noticed, such as Bowser and Peach throwing a party together and several times when the images they see are glitching out. Snoutlet is with them in this dream and helps point out thatLakitu’s camera reveals things that aren’t visible, such as platforms, boxes, and even Reclusa, himself.

Through the mirrored image of the video camera, Mario and Luigi chase down Reclusa and eventually make their way back to Concordia, breaking free of the flower headsets their bodies were taken over by.
The Final Battle With Reclusa, Parts One And Two
Reclusa Is Hard To Keep Down
Facing off against Reclusa this first time does not go as expected. Reclusa calls upon hordes of minions who quickly overwhelm the brothers. Just as all hope seems lost,Bowser and his crew arrive in his airshipand clear out the area for the heroes. Reclusa takes off, and Snoutlet creates a flying plug for Mario and Luigi to ride to chase after him. Shooting fire and ice as they fly, they eventually think they succeed in taking down Reclusa.
This villain just doesn’t stay down, though. Reclusa shows that he was creating a large tree form to take over, called Weeping Reclusa. Before a new fight can take place, Weeping Reclusa emits a fog of Glohm which knocks out Mario, Luigi, and Snoutlet.

Meanwhile, Connie leaves Cozette to check on the battle, where she comes across Mario and Luigi’s unconscious forms. Using herwatering can filled with the power of bonds from personal connections around Concordia, Connie sprinkles Mario and Luigi with the glowing power before she, too, collapses. Mario and Luigi fight the Weeping Reclusa through a couple stages, but victory is still not fully grasped.
Final Battle With Reclusa’s Last Reincarnation
The Power Of Bonds Saves Concordia
After defeating Weeping Reclusa,Reclusa takes on yet another form as the Weeping Core. This massive one-eyed ball of spikes fights with Mario and Luigi, and seems to analyze and remember each of their moves. This requiresMario & Luigi: Brothershipplayers to switch up their tactics rather than relying on a couple.
As the battle is completed, Reclusa’s crumpled form is on the ground and seems to be repentant, until he begins laughing and shoots up once again. Thankfully, this final iteration is a quick fight, with Mario and Luigi hitting Reclusa while falling through the air.

Finally, Reclusa’s form disappears and as the Soli-Tree is destroyed, Mario, Luigi, Connie, and Cozette escape by using the power of their bond. After a brief celebration on Shipshape, the Great Conductor sends the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom back home, but not without their own sprout of the Uni-Tree inMario & Luigi: Brothership.
