Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Ultimates #6!While theAvengersare famously Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, even they aren’t immune to dying, especially R-rated deaths that have been suffered by everyone from Iron Man to theHulk. However, there’s one Avenger who got it particularly bad in the original Ultimate Universe. But, in the new Ultimate Universe, her R-rated death is flipped in truly epic fashion, and even proves that this unlikely hero is secretlycapable of killing the Hulkhimself.
InThe Ultimates#6 by Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri, Captain America, Iron Lad, Giant-Man, Wasp, Hawkeye, America Chavez, She-Hulk, Thor, Sif, and the Human Torch (akaevery member of the Ultimates), are breaking into a facility owned and operated by the main villain of this new continuity: the Maker. When the Maker took over Earth-6160, he used time travel to neutralize every hero in the Marvel Universe. The Ultimates believe that within this facility are other heroes that were imprisoned by the Maker, and they mean to break them out. The Ultimates are wrong.

This facility turns out not to be a prison at all, but rather a door to K’un-Lun. In thisnew Ultimate Universe, Hulk is the new Iron Fist, making him the ruler of K’un-Lun with a number of disciples that are almost as deadly as he is. These K’un-Lun followers are highly trained, and were transformed by Hulk into gamma-mutates. During the battle that ensued, one of these gamma-minions does the unthinkable: he eats the Wasp. However, rather than dying, Wasp rapidly grows from inside him, bursting out of this gamma-mutate, reducing him to a bloody mess on the ground.
The Wasp Flips Her R-Rated Death from the Original Ultimate Universe
The Wasp was Eaten by Blob inUltimatumby Jeph Loeb and David Finch
InUltimatum- the mostshocking event in the original Ultimate Universe- the Wasp is eaten by Blob following the ‘Ultimatum Wave’ launched by Magneto that struck New York City, killing a number of other heroes. This death was absolutely gruesome, and stands as one of the main things fans remember about this horrific Ultimate Universe event. But now, in the new Ultimate Universe, the Wasp perfectly flips her original Ultimate Universe fate.
Just like inUltimatum, the Wasp is eaten by an enemy during the events ofThe Ultimates#6. However, Wasp doesn’t succumb to this fate like she did in the original Ultimate Universe, but instead turns the tables on this vicious foe. In other words, the Wasp didn’t just survive being eaten this time, she simultaneously killed the man that ate her. It’s as if Earth-6160’s Janet van Dyne got justice for her Earth-1610 counterpart, doing so in the most brutally awesome way possible.

By Defeating This Gamma-Mutate, Wasp Implies She Could Do the Same to Hulk
Hulk has been Killed from the Inside-Out Before inOld Man Loganby Mark Millar and Steve McNiven
The enemy Wasp killed was nearly as powerful as the Hulk himself, as the gamma-formula used by this minion was created by Bruce Banner to make his followers as unstoppable as possible. While that alone doesn’t prove that Wasp could kill the Hulk (since this minion clearly isn’t as strong as the Green Goliath), the Hulk’s fate inOld Man Loganimplies that it is a possibility. InOld Man Logan, Wolverine kills the Hulk from the inside-out in a similar fashion as the Wasp in this issue, meaning it’s possible that Wasp could do the same to the Hulk.
Hulk Finally Smashes the 1 MCU Avenger He Hates Most
Hulk has had his problems with practically every Avenger that has appeared in the MCU, but he hates one most of all - & he finally got to smash them!
While it remains to be seen if the Wasp can, indeed, kill theHulk, the kill she did pull off in this issue of The Ultimates stands on its own. By surviving being eaten before killing the man that ate her, this classicAvengersmember perfectly flips her R-rated death from the original Ultimate Universe in the new Ultimate Universe.
