Warning: Spoilers ahead for Aliens vs. Avengers #1!Marvelhas officially hinted at what could be the deadliestXenomorphin theAlienfranchise. While the standard Xenomorph first revealed in 1979’sAlienis a lethal threat on its own,its various hybrid formsturn an already dangerous monster into something nearly unstoppable. Now, the creature has found its way into the Marvel Universe, and in doing so, it may have found a host that could make it deadlier than ever.
InAliens vs. Avengers #1by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, two androids posing as Shi’ar are shown experimenting on a Kree soldier by attaching a Facehugger to them. However, their test fails when the Kree subject dies, but one of the scientists tries to highlight the successes they’ve achieved in trying to bond Xenomorphs with various races in the Marvel Universe. They list off groups such as the Strontians, D’bari and Cotati; butthe most notable is what they deem “the real prize pig of this batch:” a Skrull.
While no examples of a Skrull-Xenomorph hybrid have been officially shown yet, the idea of the two merging into a new hybrid form is an incredibly scary thoughtbecause of how deadly it can be as a shapeshifter.

Since a Xenomorph’s form is largely dictated by the host a Facehugger attaches to,it’s highly likely that a hybrid with a Skrull would grant it the power to shapeshift.This would pose an existential threat to not just Earth, but to the universe as a whole. Xenomorphs may seem animalistic on the outside,but they can be incredibly smart when they need to beas they wipe out vast populations.Aliens vs. Avengerseven shows just how much damage the basic Xenomorph form can do as they nearly wipe out all of Earth.

Adding shapeshifting to the mix would make them a force to be reckoned with. They could easily hide in plain sight, waiting to strike when necessary.Plus, by taking the form of other species on different worlds, they could easily trick unsuspecting victims into their hives to breed further without much of a fight.It’s already been shown instories likeSecret Invasionhow easily infiltration can be, as the Skrulls fool even the Avengers. Giving Xenomorphs the same power would be game over for all living creatures as they ultimately face less resistance from their prey.
A Skrull-Xenomorph Invasion Isn’t Likely Just Yet
But for How Long?
As deadly as a Skrull-Xenomorph hybrid would be, the androids clearly have one major hitch in their plans that prevents them from unleashing them on the universe.They claim that “Skrulls have no homeworld to seed,” meaning they have no place to properly plant their specimens for a major takeover.Since Skrulls are essentially nomads looking for a home, they’re always moving planet-to-planet, making it nearly impossible for an invasion to occur. However, this doesn’t mean that it’s impossible, since all it would take is the androids finding densely populated Skrull camps and carrying out their plot there.
With theAliens vs. Avengersseries officially underway, there are bound to be surprises in store as the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes face their scariest threat yet. However, should the Xeno-Skrulls make an appearance, characters like Hulk and Captain Marvel may be in over their heads. TheseXenomorphswould be theAlienfranchise’s deadliest yet because of their shapeshifting powers, settingMarvelup for a Xeno hybrid like no other.
